Noted for their punitive deployent of disgraced Titans. :p

Hey, you nicked my idea ?

or

to put it another way, seeing as my punitively treated disgraced Titan actually came from your stable I guess that my Legio must be 'Little Brother' to your Legio ?:D

Well, we'l make him an honorary member, Justinial.  :D

Vanvlak: ?I'll include it on the fan titan legions list. ?Give me more details if/when you decide to flesh it out.

Well, you asked for it Neal  :/  :alien:

LEGIO MECHANATOS

The databanks of the Adeptus Mechanicus of Mars record the numbers of Titans constructed since the ascent of the Machine god. The histories, however, fail to come to an agreement between themselves. The number of Warlords, for example, varies from the exaggeratedly low figure of  256 in the Book of Blessed Pinions, to an equally unbelievable 100,000 in the Apocryphernalia of Antikytherijitery. A more conservative figure of 8,500 is given in the records of Master Autocera of the Ablutio Titanii. Given the number of wars in which the Imperium is involved, and the impossibility of building new Titan-category vehicles, each and every Titan is considered sacred to the Adeptus, and is revered and protected as a holy relic of times past. The loss of a Titan is a cause for deep mourning; and if a Titan can be rescued or salvaged, the militant troops of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Skitarii, will fight with fanatic zeal until this can be achieved; in some cases, this has even resulted in turning round the situation on a battlefield in favour of the Imperium.

In difficult circumstances, only the remnants of a Titan are salvaged. Worse tragedies occur when a Titan Legion is lost in its entirety, leaving behind an orphaned Titan which more often than not becomes nearly uncontrollable. In very rare cases, a cowardly Titan Princeps will eject the crew escape pod prematurely, abandoning the Titan in the field. In all these cases, the rescued Titans or parts are taken into the custody of the Adeptus on Mars. Orphaned titans are assigned Taskmasters to retame them; parts of severely damaged Titans are used to assemble whole machines, often unstable until the taskmasters can devote their attention to them. These Titans were not reassigned to a legion, but were originally deployed independently. In 37.890, however, Logos Pater Decrepitus petitioned the Machine god for permission to band these Titans into a new legion. Permission was granted, and one of the more extreme Legions of the Adeptus, the Legio Mechanatos, was born.

Barely controllable at times, these machines, mostly Warlords, were given to the command of expert Taskmaster Princeps. Partly in response to a need to avenge lost legions, and partly out of sheer ferocity, the Legio rapidly built a reputation for striking terror in their opponents ? leading to one well-hard old Mekboy to wonder whether Gork had taken the side of the humans after the glorious battle of  Darnek-Aybitmaitang.

Due to the nature of the repairs undertaken, some of the reconstructed Titans are modifications of the original design. Some have less ? or more ? armour than standard, whilst others have experimental weapons; and in at least one case ? according to rumour ? a Xenos weapon has been mounted on a Warlord. Disgraced Titans are stripped of most weaponry, and fitted with engineering equipment such as huge dozer blades, bridges, or cranes. These Titans support the others in the thick of action, incessantly risking their existence under fire at the forefront of Titan battles ? in particular in Hive-sieges. Most notable of these is the legendary Ferox Pious, armed with a dozer blade, and missing its head, which was ejected to save its shameful Princeps in its original life. This near-demented machine has redeemed itself twenty times over, yet its Taskmaster knows it would not now bear to replace its current configuration, and in this way it continues to fight, apparently indestructible, across the galaxy.

It is unknown whether a heretic rumour about the Legio is correct: that near-destroyed traitor Titans are cleansed during century-long rituals, and assigned to the Grandmaster of the Legio for breaking in. Where it to be proven, this rumour would inevitably lead to issues with the Inquisition.

Name: Legio Mechanatos, a.k.a. The Breakdown Legion
Grandmaster: Unknown
Titans:
Unknown number of Warlord variants, many of which unconventional
3 Reaver Titans - a 4th is awaiting parts for rebuild
2 Warhound Titans
*rumoured* 1 Imperator Titan
Colours: red, with Ultramarine blue trim; a number of Titans sport metallic colours, and a few have been seen with half-red and half-yellow faces. A single dark, otherwise unmarked Warlord has been seen operating with other Legio Mechanatos titans, but it is unkown whether it is part of the organization or just attached to it.

Cool.

Craft world Mars?

Would this be a fair summary of the background:
Noted for their punitive deployent of disgraced Titans, used as experimental force by Adeptus Mechanicus.

Umm - probably yes, although they're only rebuilt there! Then again, they may have been built on Mars in the first place...  :alien:
And you've said in two lines what I've waffled about across half a web page!    :D

...the impossibility of building new Titan-category vehicles...

Excuse me? This from the near heretical Vanvlakian apocrypha? New titans are built all the time!  Legio Gladii Ignis receives regular reinforcements and was partially rebuilt after the devastation a certain Ork warlord caused.   :;):

Hi!

I posted that one briefly. (I think)

Gotta love the old books for inspiration!

P, yes you did post this a little while ago.

I certainly used this as an inspiration for my Titans. I painted them as the Morning Stars order (the titans in the middle). They didn't come as good as these, but I think I did a pretty decent job on mine.

I'm working on it, honest! I don't own a digicam. So I'll be using an old fashioned camera and have the pictures developed on a CD.
