Maybe it was just a training exercise ?! You know, blanks, lasers (MILES), arty sims, controllers, etc. !

Eh, it was probably a trade dispute. The Squats got short-changed some rhinos for the Leviathan they traded to the Guard and got huffy.
I really thought that the Guard might turn it around about two-thirds of the way through, but I guess their casualties were simply too great.
