Landing Craft Stats

OK, so it could tranport:

- 12 infantery bases + 6 rhinos (2 d?tachments)
or
- 12 terminator bases + 6 Land Raiders (3 detachements)
or
- 12 scouts + 6 from "predators/razorbacks/whirwinds/hunters/land raiders/sabre" ?
or
- how many dreadnoughs if possible ?

Sorry for all those questions, but I have a Landing Craft on the workbench and I would be happy to use it as soonly :)

I think the common practice is to count walkers as equivalent to 2 infantry stands.

On my side I would have said: 1 dreadnough <=> 1.5 infantery base so you could put 4 dreadnoughs (1 detachment) in a TH and 8 dreads in a landing craft  :;):

The standard transport rule says that you can only transport infantry. The optional transport rule says walkers each count as 2 infantry. (It's on p.18).

The Epic:A version of the Landing Craft allows 12 infantry stands (terminators or dreadnoughts count as 2 stands each), and in addition, either 6 rhino chassis, or 4 Land Raiders.

But do we have to follow exactly the E:A profile ?

In E:A, it's certainly possible for a player to get 4 Land raiders and 6 terminators stands. In NetEpic, it's not possible due to detachment formation. If you take 2 terminator detachments, you have 8 stands and 4 Land Raiders. If you only take one termi detachment, you could put 4 extra infantery stands in the landing craft but they're no support card consisting of 4 standard infantery stands...The same way, you could not put 2 dread detachments.

I noticed that the TH description in Adeptus Astartes says:

"may transport 6 infantry stands or 4 Walker-class units"

so couldn't it be easy to say for the Landing craft "12 infantery stands or 8 walker class" and "6 chassis rhinos based vehicles or 4 Land raiders" ?

WMN has said he's finished the Gold Marines book and uploaded it to NetEpic.org...but I can't find it anywhere.  T/P/C could we get a new section on the NetEpic.org downloads page for Gold rules so we can find them when they get released?

Failing that, we could post it to the Yahoo groups.

Certainly not. But, considering that the transport was created specifically for E:A, it makes sense to go with at least close to the E:A definition. Most other units are at least somewhat consistent with their other definitions.

With the 18-stand definition, the Landing Craft can happily transport two non-Terminator detachments and their transports. A pair of Landing Craft can transport a full company of termies and their rides...(although the Company HQ would have to ride underslung in a vehicle transport slot :) )

I may have missed the transport(18)* point:

does it mean:

- 18 infantery stands
or
- 12 infantery stands + 6 rhinos chassis bases vehicule
or
- something else ?

Have another read of the definition - the Netepic version allows you to carry any 18 units, of which up to 6 can be vehicles. You could carry zero vehicles, and 18 infantry stands.

Of course, the original E:A version doesn't allow you to swap out the vehicle carrying capacity to transport troops. Hurrah for variation! :)

Hi!

I kinda wondering is some sort of official equivalence of stands to walkers to vehicles should be done. Then we'd just list the troop capacity and people could swap to walkers or vehicles based on that.

As I said up above, there's already a mention in the Transport rules about 1 walker to 2 infantry...nothing about converting to vehicles, though.

If you do decide to have a standard equivalency, though, the default should be that transports can't carry anything larger than infantry or light arty - then, you could spec out the exceptions in their special rules. otherwise, you could have silly situations like a Thunderhawk carrying rhinos, which are in turn carrying marines on board...whereas this is clearly exactly what the Landing Craft was designed for (how else exactly do Marines get their transports out of orbit?)

This equivalence is not true everywhere:

- Thunderhawk can transport 6 infantery stands or 4 terminators stands or 4 dreadnough (1 walker <=> 1,5 infantery stand)
- Land Raider has transport(2) and can transport 2 terminators stands so...could it transport 4 infantery stands ?  Surely not

Maybe we could find an equivalence between infantery/walkers/cavalry but not extend it to vehicules for transport units like thunderhawk and landing craft :)
