I've decided to get back into 6mm sci-fi and have always like the NetEpic project and specifically the Heresy rules.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about them. I guess if you have a large fan base that are interested in carrying on where SM2 left off, a completely new rules set won't get much traction.
I'm a fan of the command and control system and am considering giving it a go alongside E:A and NetEpic (as well as DRM, DS2, and a couple other rules sets).
Just wondering if anyone plays it (or played it) and what they thought the strengths and weaknesses of it were.

I have been playing it a fair bit recently .
Definate strengths are the command and control, I like it's morale rules as well.

It's a set of rules for Epic that is redesigned from the ground up to incorporate some ideas and concepts related to army command and control. Primarch is one of the co-authors. Where the NetEpic project is about carrying on with Space Marine 2, Heresy is a new game.

If you scroll down, you'll find it after the NetEpic stuff.
The main attraction I have for Heresy is the "go until you fail" turn mechanic. I absolutely love that. Basically you get to keep activating formations until you fail your activation roll. Other games that use this type of mechanic include Warmaster (fantasy and ancients game), Bloodbowl (board game of fantasy football), Crossfire and Company Commander (WW2-modern historical gaming).
It basically forces you to prioritize each turn. You likely won't get to do everything you want before your opponent gets to go again. That generally means that actual tactical planning will be rewarded. Heresy doesn't go as far as Bloodbowl, Crossfire and Company Commander. In those games if you screw up pretty much anything your turn ends. In Heresy, it's just unit activations.

Hi!
The reason for the lack of "promotion" is because I do not desire to use the infrastructure of netepic and its fanbase to promote Heresy in detriment, perhaps, to netepic.
Netepic is the star and would like to keep it that way. ALso I dont wish it to be viewed that I am using netepic to promote personal projects.
Having said this, Heresy, as most may NOT know is VERY old. Netepic itself is over a decade old, Heresy is almost 9 years old.
It was born from the minds of Kenneth Peters and myself, since we wanted a scratch built system that actual took command and control and troop quality into consideration (not the usual lip service most games gives this concept).
We wanted a game where the core rules were the same for everything, in other words NO SPECIAL RULES. Of course how to give each army its own "feel". We solved this by using skills, which oddly enough came from the game that gave birth to the desire to make netepic -- epic40k!!
Skills permit us to make all armies "special" without compromising the core rules. NO different rules for war engines, infantry and vehicles. Everyone uses the same rules and concepts, its the SKILLS that make you different.
Heresy actually does have a following (to my humble thanks to them), we just dont have a support structure or forum to just talk about the game itself.
I more than welcome direct questions from rules interpretations or even game design 'why's".
