As some of you may know, I have been pondering making flexible terrain. Roads, fields, maybe even hedges and so on. So I added some rubber to my last resin order and it arrived this morning. I did a test piece to see how it works. I just poured it into an old worn out OKI wall mould to see how it works. I never thought for one moment I should actually sell flexible OKI walls, but I do now!! ![]() ![]() Bouncability and Size matters! |

That's what I thought and it was just a test idea. I will be selling flexible OKI walls in the new year and now I know how the stuff works I can start on my other flexible ideas. I am quite excited about this... ![]() |

Have you tried afixing them to a base? I'd be worried about the adhesive or the rubber failing eventually... Not to mention the paint. It is a damn cool idea if it works though. |

I have a test piece I will be painting shortly using my normal method. Not stuck it down yet, I keep waving it about to watch it wobble.... I will do though later with another one. However, the main original plan was for fields and roads etc which won't need sticking down so all good there. Also, it seems also identical to the stuff that another company use which I have painted with no issues.. BUT I will report back later. |

Roads and fields I'm very much interested in, at least in the medium term. |

Right then. I spray undercoated as normal. This took fine. I then painted one sample in Coat d'Arms paint. I then painted the other sample in cheapo crafty paint. The Coat d'Arms bends with no issues. Here is the craft paint one: ![]() So, if you are using cheapo craft paint make sure you varnish it. In the best Ikea traditions I carried on bending and squeezing. After a while the varnished side started to crack too. After a very long while so did the Coat d'Arms one. So… in summary. If you intend to use them as models and treat them carefully they will be just fine. If you intend to treat them as stress balls then they will probably end up stressing you out more as they will crack with excessive abuse. I have glued the Coat d'Arms one to some plasticard with superglue and it has held fast. It would be a gruntable effort to remove it so that seems good too. |
