I'm trying to finish putting together my Squat Army and I have some doubts about the Goliath Mega-Cannon.

Basically, everyone in my gaming group (and me) think that the Goliath is brutally overpowered.

300 pts for 2 of those beasts (50 points more than 3 Manticores), for a total of 6 BP (no slow fire), tougher with 5+ RA, and harder to suppress due to being WE. Does immobile pay off for that??

Cheers

What I have found is that it isn't the question of how good they are, but the number of points you then spend trying to make sure that they can fire. There's the AA to try and deter aircraft and ground attacks followed by the infantry, Berserkers or Warriors which eats up into the points that you want to fight with going forward.

So from my testing they are not over powered and tend to miss out to the Colossus and Cyclops in my picks. But please share your test games as I do change my mind over these things.

Well, that's true for any other artillery formation in the game too, and Goliaths hit even harder (and are way harder to supress).

One or two formations of them still allow for one of the big WE. I'm still trying them but for now everyone seems concerned about their power.
