Hello everyone and thanks for your ongoing patience and help with the Squats. As many have experienced, the Squats have no aircraft which -by itself- would not be an issue. However, the static nature of their primary flak units (Thunderfires) and the pricey Overlords being their only other flak option has made a few players (myself included) question if the list is missing an AA option. To be honest, I am not too keen on making a new unit, but I thought I would provide it as an option to be be fair. Also, it may be that no change is made and we leave the flak options as they are- and that's fine. However with a new list imminent I want to make sure we're taking care of as many topics as necessary. |

Looks like I get to play the Old Curmudgeon role on this one. |

Dwarf Infantry Missile Launcher. Give Thunderers a single AA6+/30cm shot, and up their cost to +100 for two. Would also prompt the use of more Warrior Brotherhoods. |

I voted for making Thunderfires towable. It might be the simplest solution. |

Hello ! my hands uo...for the land train option (create wagon) or for the infantry option (missle guys) ... the downside for towing thunderfires is that you get mixed formations. reason why i do not like this option. Beside that, due to their size thunderfire is not a unit to engage with, and the infantrie is one of the units you can use in an offensive way... Here we go ![]() Stefan |

Not being a Squat player I didn't vote. The new Land Train car sounds like the best solution to me though. Infantry AA has always been viewed as hard to balance in the past. |

why do they need more AA? In my Tyranid army, I have 1 model with AA, that's the Dominatrix. With the powerful area effect weapons and the war engines Squats have, I don't really see the need for more AA. Make the Overlord ship more useable, but as a regular Squat opponent I can tell you that the current AA is painful enough. It shoots 60 cm with AA5+, I mean come on what more do you want? Also it counts as INF, so usually it is hidden in terrain. In conjunction with lots of "shoot-across-table" war engines, I don't think any upgrade is needed. Play Space Marines for a change, then you'll be happy to come back to Squats ![]() cheers, |

Mspaetauf, the biggest complaint is that the Squats have no aircraft options whatsoever, and the primary flak weapon is a static formation. This keeps the formations from being able to launch into enemy territory when there are aircraft on the other side. Overlords rarely make it to the other half of the board (it might be the giant bulls eyes painted on them) so they are no help. A 150 point formation of Thunderbolts on CAP are a 100% coverage of the board. Add in two hunters and I think you have enough flak to conduct a good Space Marines game. Squats have a static formation for 125 with the same range, and yet this formation need only lose one unit and it breaks. What this means is any opponent who fields aircraft have a free pass to rip up the Squats. Once again, I don't believe this is a MUST DO item, but IMO it is something worth exploring. (By the way, Thunderfires are not infantry. They are on the data sheet as Armored Vehicles. You may mean that they can be garrisoned because of the 0cm move which is true, but not necessarily a good thing.) |

I don't think they need a new option. The Thunderfires had done fine in the games I've played against them. I could live with an AA Land Train car, and it would make sense. Have never been a fan of the AA on the Overlords though. |

Quote: Have never been a fan of the AA on the Overlords though. Care to elaborate? -- Seems that there is some interest in the Land Train getting a car with AA. The question is if we were to have flak on the Land Train, where would we put it? What kind of armament? I would be hesitant to put it on a new car only because model availability is difficult at best right now, not to mention having a scratch-model or proxy in a core list strikes me as a bad idea. (Of course, nothing is available through GW, so maybe that argument doesn't hold much water anymore) Could we attach flak to one of the lesser desirable cars? If so, which one? |

I'd suggest either flak on the engine or - my preference - having a dedicated AA car. |

Good morning ! ![]() and attach them to the car. Landrain owns battle canon, therefore it seems to fit anyway regards stefan |
