[] The way the list is currently written doesn't actually explicitly limit players to a single Canoness (Supreme Commander). (I assume this is because we all just take the limit of 1 for granted)

Yes that should be one per army, I'll change that.

Quote:
[] Based on its stats, the relatively short range of its weapons and its cost I recommend the Cathedral of Purification by tried with the 'Thick Rear Armour' rule. TBH it doesn't look that appealing an inclusion.

It perhaps it should have thick rear armour but atm I'm still concerned with its stats anyhow so not going to fiddle with them until I have a happy medium.

Quote:
[] "War Engine formations have an initiative of 2+." - I recommend The Emperor’s Chapels and Cathedral of Purification join the basic sisters in becoming 1+ to activate.

Sort of the same answer as above and I would see them as a inquisition formation rather than a sister one.

Quote:
[] As far as I can tell, the 200pt Inquisitorial Warrior Acolytes formation can include 8 units with the Leader rule. I am not saying there's a reason to go so high, but just looking at what is possible.

[] Servitors provide 16 heavy bolter shots for 200 points. Should they also be their current CC5+ instead of CC6+?

[] Inquisitorial Henchmen Penitent provide 8 macro weapon FF5+ attacks with First Strike for 200pts. First strike macro FF and access to a priest (inspiring leader fearless inv) upgrade makes them interesting, have they been tried en masse yet as a clipping force in fast transports? They seem like budget Warpspider+Exarch units.

This is what I'll be focusing on in the next few tests, atm its possible to spam these units if they need restricting then I will do so.

Quote:
[] Is the "Aquila Lander" not really supposed to be a landing craft? It's fine as AV Skimmer, similar to a Valkyrie or wave serpent, I am essentially asking if the vehicle isn't really supposed to be a considerably more expensive flying transport.

The points cost is really to reflect the stats they are not that good no CC or FF and no shooting. They still need testing, the grey knight list has them as well.

Quote:
[] "Add 1 Aquila Lander and 3 Arvus Lighters armoured vehicles to transport the formation" - should this section also have the text '(You must take exactly enough to carry all units in the formation after any upgrades have been added. No transport spaces may be left over if possible)'? Currently, it's only implied and not explicit that Exorcists can't take this as an upgrade, and for infantry there is no clear restriction on the infantry maxing out on taking enough Immolators/Repressors and then adding the aquilas too.

I agree I'll change that too.

As for including bikes I have no plans to introduce them. Sorry.

I don't think the SoB have access to bikes anyway. Perhaps use them as proxy Seraphim? Unless they've been added to the army since I last played 40k.

Yeah as cool as Don's little models are we really should stick as much to the fluff as possible. Your idea of counts-as Seraphim is inspired.

Hey guys just a question:

If the Orders Militant Adepta Sororitas V1.0 is the current supported SoB list does that mean that the Adeptus Ministorum Orders Militant v1.3 Is no longer being worked on?
Are the differences just in formation strengths and roster choices?
Units still do the same damage across both lists?

I'm keen to build my SoB army, but i like the idea of building mine around a Reaver titan and not the Chapels

Cheers

Mard

One is NetEA the other is not and untended for Zombo's eventual supplement

I've been thinking on some of the Inquisitorial Units. The Imperial Armoured fist feels very redundant. It's basically a more expensive and worse version of a Mission and it basically fits into the close engagement/firefight support role the Sisters excel at.

Surely the wise Inquisitor knows this and would be looking for supplemental forces they have access to that provide something to the sisters that is useful?

Normally you'd get 8 Storm Troopers (+scout) for 200pts. Perhaps switch the formation to be 8 strong (still without scout) and 4 chimera for 300pts but also swap the plasmaguns for autocannons. The formation then fills a role the sisters can't do themselves as a mobile firebase able to provide mid ranged covering fire while the closer range sisters get into position? 25pts a stand for the trooper, 25 per chimera the activation surcharge waived as it's a support formation? Or add it in and make them 325 or 350pts?

As for the Chapels/Cathedral I really like them and really want to see them in the list, but feel they may have gone too far the other way from OP to not really offering anything to the list.

Maybe play up the fact they are essentially moving buildings by making them mobile bunkers whose job is not to attack the enemy but to roll into and hold ground already taken.

Perhaps add a special rule that makes all models mounted inside Fearless AND allow any mounted unit to firefight from inside. Makes being mounted up in the thing really attractive (for BTS types especially) and brings up visuals of sisters standing under gothic arches pouring firepower out down steps while vast wheels grind away and incense clouds the air. In its current role it's basically a really slow transport that offers little real extra firepower (as it's doubling most of the time to try and keep pace with the rest of the army and if it's not doubling its 30cm range means it won't be firing much anyway) and in a firefight offers 6 5+ attacks for 2 hits, not bad but really not something you're going to be excited about having finally arrive amongst the enemy ranks.

But first I think make the changes to Missions, Dominions, et al, those are the important changes to try out first and making too many changes all at once starts obscuring the effects of making them!

FF cathedrals is good though there needs to be a limit to the number that isn't stupid.

What's the limitations and weaknesses of the list then? I'd rather see that those autocannons don't show up.

So Orders Militant Adepta Sororitas V1.0 is the current in works SoB list..

I may just have to start testing Zombos one then and see if we can't revive that one

I'll preface this with I love all the play testing being done and appreciate the dedication. again, Sisters have always been my favorite. And that to compare other lists items/points isn't fair, but there needs to be some type so its not out of balance

I'm just not understanding such hesitant thinking on the Cathedral and Chapel. Its better to make something good, then tone it back for balance then have something horrible so no one will want to play test it knowing it will vastly under perform.

At most in your standard list you get 2 units of Chapels, so 4 total. They are a very over coasted transport. Driving up, its hardly going to kill much, and most of the time maybe place a few blast markers. I'm not expecting it to be a murder machine, but for 50 points less I can have 4 land raiders as marines. which they carry the same but are far deadlier.

Echoing, the Cathedral is also not worth taking. It is again, just a neutered WE transport that costs a butload of points.

The army should be unique in a way that makes someone want to buy into it and play it and enjoy it. I have Necrons, another Fire fight based army. I want to see and feel the difference of the armies even if their main way of fighting is the same.

@ Mard - Maybe take a go at that or post your ideas on it on what you think might be changed

Well they do provide a different role as they give some AT fire which the Sob infantry don't have although short range. Perhaps they should retain the scout rule fulfilling the elite nature of the formation this might work because of the reduced size of the formation and scouts are what the list lacks. As for giving them autocannons I agree with jimmyzimms.

Your right about seeing the Chapels/Cathedral as mobile buildings moving in too hold ground and as Sob are an advancing force they tend to get left behind, however I don't see that their underpowered most of the weapons are ignore cover making them effective at double and shoot, which is mainly what their doing. They still need testing and maybe the FF thing could work as that's the idea I like the sound of.

The Chapels/Cathedral are a different beast as for their firepower it depends on what your shooting at against AV's yes I agree with what your saying but hit an infantry formation it burns with a 4BP ignore cover. As for the transport option I was of the opinion that they should not have it at all but was trying to retain its previous incarnation, their was talk of them being made a transport upgrade which would make more sense in them having the ability to carry infantry.

So I'm having a good in depth look at the lists today, really planning this is to be my next army with the hope of pushing to take it to a tourney in Aus next year.

Just my thoughts, no games yet, just theorizing.

The List itself, looks great and props to everyone who's working on it! Especially Consul Avenging Angel for taking the time and effort to keep it moving.

So far the Chapels just seem rubbish to me, just not work taking at all. They don't really seem to fill any need in the list, I'm not saying remove them, but i think they went to far in the nerf direction.

Would love to see the Titans back in the list as a great centerpiece, something putting out BP damage and to back up hordes of sisters. What about making a Titan with a different weapon loadout for the sisters? A Reaver with Meltas and flamers to back up the sisters, There's no way an Inquisitor can't organize that.

I like the idea of taking an Inquisitorial Warband or two, But I'm worried about the Arvus Lighters and It just seems to fragile to get them into combat. Any thoughts on an Inquisitorial Thunderhawk or the like? Come in with a proper air assault?

And a couple of questions to end with:
I'm right in reading this so far as a heavy engagement army, focusing on getting into as many firefights as possible?
How do people deal with Heavy AV and Titan armies? Just the exorcists?
Same for hordes, Try for mass engagements?
How many activations are people aiming for with this army?
Dominions are the only scouts yeah? Is this what people are taking now to screen from teleporters and engagements?

Good to see you on board Mard, nice to see the use of penitent engines. Having a decent amount of activation's helps with the combined engagements, I find taking repressor's and immolator's with the coven means you can place BMs and kill stuff with shooting which helps.
