In the old days I thought there was a person who was called something like sensai or something like it. He had a following and was gaining influence until he was eliminated (can't remember how).

Does this ring a bell with anyone or am I just mixing up old game backgrounds?

weren't the sensei the immortal sons of the Emperor who roamed around with followers, generally maiming the Imperium's foes?  Its was a RT era thing that has been quietly dropped I think

Dafrca,

I remember the Sensai well. There was an abandoned plot hook that included the Sensai and the "Star Children" around the RT-era in the early White Dwarfs.

http://www.criticalhit.co.uk/w40krp/appendix.shtml

The link I typed in will take you to a compilation of old WD articles including the one about the Sensai.

OK. The article was called: The Sensei and the Star Child based on Realm of chaos: Slaves to Darkness and Lost and the Damned.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

Sensei are immortal sons of the Emperor. He has no knowledge of them because they are "psychic blanks" meaning they cannot be detected by psychic means and the dangers of the warp have no meaning to them. A group known as the Illuminati (who are individuals who have been possessed by chaos and then escaped and therefore is impervious to it) are trying to enlighten these Sensei to sacrifice themselves so the Emperor can be reborn through the Star Child, who is a "fetal god" that is hidden from chaos, but needs the Sensei to be born.

Thanks for helping me. - Dafrca

You're welcome.

Hey! Check out that link I posted earlier. There is some classic fluff there.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
What is the word that writers prefer for fluff? Colour background or somesuch?

The Sensai and Illuminati have not been abandoned.. I recall seeing an article for Inquisitor a year or so ago in WD going into detail about them and other interesting factions to introduce in games- the basics were as Tas, Maksim and Primarch mention, if I remember correctly, but I'll see if I can dig it out and compare.....

-Maksim; Studio types genrally refer to fluff simply as 'background', but they call the little stories and scenes in codexs and rulebooks "colour text".... hope that helps! :;):

remember

fluff and background are never written out

it only fades away, not to be mentioned for many years, sometimes it hasn't been mentioned since the RT era, but it may come back at some point...

Hi!

Actually, a lot of the old fluff is alive and kicking in all those novels GW's black library pump out. I have been reading a few and are quite entertaining. At least those conserve that dark old gothic feel.

Oh, I have been. Some good stuff there. Some I knew about and some I had forgotten about. Great stuff all around.

Good to see you are liking some BL stuff Primarch....

I really do reccomend (most) of them, as they are quite unlike any other startrek/wars, D&D etc rubbish that people may have been put off by...

Hi!

I have become quite fond of the BL books actually. I have bought and read about 2 dozen of them and plan on getting some more. I think its the only GW product that still makes me feel like when I first started reading the 40k universe so long ago.

Nice books.

I seem to remember that in a fluff seminar a few years back Andy C made a bold statement that the Inquisition had purged all of the Squats and all of the Sensei... and the Illuminati.

Provoked quite a response back then...

GW and the top "fluff" guys have always shown a great disregard for how such comments effect the fanboys.  :;):

Many of these fanbys take this stuff very seriously.
