Been away from warhaming for a while, very happy to see Epic and the forum still survives. Is there a separate board where life continues for Battlefleet Gothic?

The board seems to be archived and read only?

These forums are barely used these days to be honest but still good for historical purposes.

There's a Tactical Command Discord instead that is busy plus epic players have fragmented more to various epic facebook and whatsapp groups.

I checked at the Discord has a BFG sub section so that's probably a good place to go. I'm still a bit new to Discord but try this join link and I think it should work? https://discord.gg/3FCQ27mR

Wow a fellow Bristolian!

The rise of social media has been pretty rough on the old style forum communities it seems, thanks for the link to the discord I'll have an investigate.

I've been thinking about looking at Epic again too, having not played for about 10 years, new support from GW is potentially exciting! Without wanting to seem weird internet stalkery are you the same GlynG in the tournament at BIG next weekend? Do you know if visitors welcome or if its a sort of members only event?

Quite a coincidence that you live here too! There are more Epic Armageddon players in and around Bristol (maybe 10 or so of us) than anywhere else in the UK these days. Couple of Bristol epic tournaments each year too and some of us that drive up to tournaments elsewhere.

Yeah feel free to come along to the tournament at BIG to have a look and chat to us. It's an open gaming store and anyone can come by.

The new Legion Commander models are a third or more larger scaled than old epic models but still fine to use for Epic Armageddon too. Plastic AT titans and knights are commonly used at the tournamernts.

Do you ever go to the Bristol Gaming Collective games club in St Phillips? https://www.facebook.com/BristolGamingCollective/ I only find time to go occasionally but they seem to play more specialist games than most clubs (more epic, mordheim, necromunda, etc). Not sure about BFG but maybe some do.

Bristol has had a long running and vibrant wargamming community, which is nice (I was there in the early days!). I'll see about dropping by BIG on a social visit then.

Legions Imperalis isn't Epic but way I see it more people playing tiny wargamming the better!

Yeah stop by Sat if you can.

It kinda is a 5th edition of epic really but same as 1st edition epic set back during the Horus Heresy only (and with no plans for xenos like orks or eldar this time).

Supposedly GW stopped paying for the Epic copyright after stopping selling the last version several years ago and a different company copyrighted epic instead for their own games so GW couldn't call the game that. The LC box says 'Epic Scale' and 'Epic battles in the game of darkness' so they're still suggesting that's what it is.

I'm not a fan of endless marines fighting marines either, thats the one thing 40K has too much of already. I'd take the current setting over the Heresy era any day.

As an aside do you know a chap called Ryan, used to organise a Winter Warmer epic tournament? (Might still do!)

Same! I like being able to play Epic Sisters of Battle, Gargant armies, Necrons, etc. 30k all the time doesn't appeal.

Yeah Ryan's a good friend. Knowing him here here was one of the reasons I moved to Bristol when I came back to the UK. He doesn't play any more though as he sold off his wargaming models long ago for money so start off his bicycle wheel building business.

I used to go to the Winter Warmers back then too and they're still on these days, though organised by Darren these days instead.
