Here's a preview of the cover art for my soon-to-be released sci-fantasy skirmish rules. A larger image where you can better enjoy all the details can be found here. ![]() |

It's playable at any scale. ![]() The setting for the game isn't specific. ROGUE PLANET refers to any place, world, or location where science fiction and fantasy elements coexist. It's more a concept than any one particular place. They game has a point based unit creation system that allows you to do pretty much anything that you like. It can be played as sci-fi with a dash of fantasy, fantasy with a schmidge of sci-fi, or fully blended sci-fantasy goodness. Full-blown sci-fantasy is where it shines though. So, established sci-fantasy settings like Rogue Trader, Final Fantasy vii and viii, Star Wars, Destiny, Barsoom, Mass Effect, and 'grim dark futures' all work really well with the rules. Think power fists, sorcery, psionics, chain blades, and really big swords. |

Looks really cool, sounds very interesting. But I really recommend you try and come up with some sort of setting for people to start in, it doesn't have to be really crazy just something generic. I personally don't buy a game that doesn't have a setting with it, I want to dig In to your game in your setting. Starting quests that teach your rules as you go on in an interesting setting. Maybe it's an old western with tech and I'm charging my energy rifle to take out some marauders to save the maiden from being boiled and eaten. Who are the marauders, what faction do I associate myself with, why do I find them interesting. And how do your rules draw me into your setting. |

For the initial release, I wanted to just have the setting be inferred so that players would feel like they had more freedom to do anything-and-everything that they wanted. There are some examples in the book of my influences and various established settings that you could emulate. I do have some army lists and more setting specific faction information that I'm going to release after people have had a chance to play with the system a bit. Hopefully you'll give it a look then. Thanks again! ![]() |
