Hi all, long long ago in a nicer age when WD was more worth reading, the Necron Raiders were born, and the nice WD editor and his bosses decided to give a free Necron away to all readers. I've still got him, my first Necron ever to be painted up. Years later, and I was in a quandary or two. (1)I have some old school Necrons and seevral new ones, and the uniform Necron look did not encourage use of both (2)I was getting fed up of seeing so man clone Necron armies (that daisy and ladybird one on ebay a couple of weeks ago was a sight for sore eyes ![]() (3)I had no idea how to paint them. And then I went back a few months, and remembered my old idea for a Necron force which included several warriors which had been captured by the Ad Mech, shut down, left dormant, abandoned, gotten vandalized with graffiti by Hive Gangers.... and finally recovered by a Necron fleet. I dug out the old Nec from his place in the display cabinet, decided Ididn;t want a brown army, and finally settled on what to do A Necron fleet has for it's own reasons penetrated the Imperium and is now heading away again. It has recovered several old shutdown Necrons from an Adeptus storage bunker. The Necron fleet has recovered them all, including some which had been taken apart by the Ad Mech, some 'metal man' Servitors built by the Ad Mech in imitation of the Necrons and long since abandoned, now given life by the Necrons themselves (the old style), and several which had been messed about with in general by the Ad Mech. The collection included aeveralspecimens recovered from buried Necron outposts all over the galaxy, and therefore having different colours as well. ANyway - it doesn't sound really plausible at the moment, but it gives me the opportunity to do some weird conversions (yes, that's the real reason) and mix and match the old and new Necrons accordingly. i'm also tempted to do my own take on Wraiths and Pariahs, not to mention something a bit complex for the Flayed Ones. Troops in hand - not a good showing for Apocalypse, but enough for my liking anyway: several warriors 10-12 Flayed ones Wraiths, Pariahs - to be defined by conversion several scarabs 3 Tomb Spiders (maybe more) several (have to count) Destroyers hmmm... no imortals... must come up with something 1 Monolith 1 Pylon 1 (plan for) an Obelisk or something similar As for the Orks - they'll keep coming too. ![]() |

Ambitious project! As usual, I can't wait to see what you create. |

Sounds great - perhaps you could have a squad of freakish Ad Mech devotees (tech priests, electropriests, servitors) and count them as Pariahs in game terms? |

I was considering using a conversion based on a blend of arcoflagellants and Necrons for Flayed Ones; I might use their bods for Pariahs... although the servitor suggestion sounds good.... hmmmm.... ![]() ![]() |

Here's our first Nec on the thread. One of the Red-faced Raiders. He looks angry - must be the conversion to his Gauss Gun..... ![]() |
