Ok, just found this in Dakka and had to post it:

ok guys i atended eye of terror preview night in uk last night for the winners of a league held in my local store. Some very interesting stuff, got to see all the eye of terror models

-cadians are so sweet, helmets look perfect when you actually see them, special weapons and sarge look fantastic, reckon these could easily turn out to be games workshops best selling plastics ever
- defiler is smaller than i thought, looks good but manager warned that its very fragile, i.e dont bother trying to use posable ball sockets for arms, just glue them.
-Codex looks great as well, cant wait to start my slannesh lost and the dammned with loads of the new cadians
- plaque marines are nice but nothing spectacular, 7 in a box all metal
-seer council, again nothing special
-wulfen are probably an aquired taste but i think they look sweet

However the main thing is that we got was a speech on how the campaign is going to work
-all special characters can be killed depending on "triggers" i.e for example if the world eaters fight certain battles on certain planets and lose then no more Kharn the betrayer!, apparently these triggers have all been arranged by the studio staff before hand, but only they know
- conquering planets will,. depend greatly on capturing the planets around them. i.e every planet in cadian system is fortified and so wont be an easy nut to crack. so players will have to slowly work there way from system to system.
-if imperial win golden age blah blah, chaos win then after cadia, fenris, armageddon, terra!
- manager also told us that armagedon campaign was to all intents and purposes rigged and that guys at mail order who were supoosed to do data entry for all the results couldnt be arsed and just made up what they wanted.
-whatever the result people will not be happy as it will have a major implication for example if imperial forces loses will have to rely more on tau etc as allies but if they win "tau will always be a marginilised race" quote, and imperial forces will head out into eastern frindges. Another example is that ulthwe craftworld could be destroyed and survivors turn into a pirate style force
- all in all there is going to be a winner and more importantly a loser
- also at events(grand tournaments etc) winners will be given sopme kind of special card(voucher) that effectivley wins one planet(or weakens one planet something like that, knows that each one worth its weight in gold in terms of impact)
-runs all summer final game is at uk gamesday with twenty forgeworld warhound titans!
-strategy will be important with forums being used to decide where to focus attacks upon with calls being made for reinforcemnets etc

dont know about you guys but i really like this russian roulete system for geting rid of special charaters gives it a definite edge, all in all i cant wait, whay about you guys?

All I can say is I'm glad GW admitted to fixing Armageddon.

Also I hope a few special characters die - [crosses fingers] bye bye Abbadon

Lastly, I was undecieded about going to Games Day, but hell yeah now I am! 20 Warhounds!!! Massive battle to finish the campaign!!! Yes!! (wait - just had a thought - what if they are Epic scale Warhounds?)

Cheers

Chris

I was on quiet mode regarding what I've seen about EoT, but since there's been a preview night I guess I can add my opinions of a few things  :

Agree here - they're class and I fully expect them to be one of the best selling ranges, but SM's will always win big with newbie rugrats ;). I've had a good look at a lot of the models from the new ranges for IG and am actually contemplating scrapping my (oh-so-hard-to-collect) codex grey IG in their favour.

The Kasrkin (or whatever they're called) are some of the nicest IG models ever. The new generic IG snipers are also a nice addition.

Whats even more amazing is that the packaging of the box sets which is being used actually makes sense for once and works out to be a decent deal - especially for the HW teams.

The Defiler is a nice model except for one of the head options (the chaos warrior helm - it just looks silly IMHO) and the ones I've seen dont appear to be that delicate. I've seen them happily re-posed and used in a game without a problem.

-seer council, again nothing special

Seer council is one of those box sets thats going to sell really well in some stores and rather badly in others depending on how well the display example is done by the staff IMHO. The models require a LOT of painting to make them look good (Runes etc.). If done well, they could be awsome, but if they give it to the store chimp to paint (as happens all too often with such models it seems...) they really dont look like they cut the grade.

-wulfen are probably an aquired taste but i think they look sweet

The Wulfen are one of the ranges I definitely wont be buying. It may be an aquired taste as he suggested, but to me even having sen them in person I still cant look at them without thinking "Planet of the apes+ Saturday night Fever = Disco poses Wolfen".

That is very encouraging to hear. I'd heard mutterings that they were going to try and get something like that set up, but to hear it from a second source is always a good reassurance!

Then all the better for it! Wouldnt it be class if GW finished the world campaign with the last game being played using Epic:A?  :blues:

Unfortunately, I know they've already sent out a number of 40K warhounds to be painted by various staff members so it looks like Epic's role will have to wait until the next big campaign
:D

Wow... Cheers for posting that Chris, most interesting.....

20 Warhounds eh? ?.....Not bad!! :D

The Death Guard will be all metal- Not good :( ...hard to convert, and they will be ?20 each (EDIT: each boxed set...) .. ....Guess I will just make my own from plastic marines.

I like the sound of the special characters system... I doubt Abaddon will go though....

Thanks again Chris....

It now makes me wonder what stuff you know Tuffskull that you are not allowed to talk about. Any other juicy rumours? I know your not allowed, but I'll never tell another soul.

Cheers

Hmmmm....... There's nothing stopping me telling anyone other than my honour and word on some items.... Oh to hell with that.......

I dont know as much as I used to on all things GW, but I still have various sources :blues:

Tell you what - I'll tell you the two items that I'm looking forward to the most :D :

For 40K: The new IG codex is looking pretty cool - design your own ?Regiments. Last I heard there were 30 odd possible special characteristics (though I'd expect that to be trimmed down a bit-whilst they have aplied restrictions on certain combinatios I still think 30 is too many to be well play tested and rounded) and you choose up to four to personalise your regiment. Will be awsome if people have well themed armies & stick with their regiments characteristics, but could be beard-producing if people start tailoring their regiments for every game. ?Some of the models are also looking rather nice, I belive some were taken to the French Gamesday so have a look around for pics from that if & you might be able to see what I mean.

For WHFB: The Release of Brettonians in Spring 2004 will hopefully bring with it new plastics sets including a completely new regiment - Pegasus mounted Knights. Whilst I'm not sure how they'll work in the game, they're something I simply cant wait to paint up a few for display. ?

(Note to all: I am a trustworthy guy really and will always keep my word if given. The items above whilst (maybe) not general knowledge are also apparently not on the "most secret" list  :l ) :-:

Tuff, remember, well it must be over a year ago now you had a chat with the guy from Forgeworld about what was planned? Well I think you should arrange another one of those, you seem to have a lot to do with GW nowadays :D Or do you know what is planned for epic from Forgeworld?

What about what is planned for Epic:A? If you do know anything please do tell   Please?

Cheers

Chris

Sorry Chris, I know nothing for epic other than that which I have either already said or is general knowledge.

Despite keeping an eye on these forums etc and the odd bit of painting (very little even then for epic) I am pretty much out of epic at the moment. I've had no contact from the Fanatic crew since I was ill (despite a number of emails in their direction ).

I guess since I no longer run the site I've been deemed worthless by that part of the evil empire :p (Joke.....)

I've decided to take a break from epic since I'm no longer in control of the site - I am concentrating on completing armies for 40K & WHFB and will start playing as soon as they're done. I'm also polishing up my LoTR armies.
I still love the epic system and figs, but I know that unless I basically starve myself of them I'll end up doing nothing but 6mm again and my other projects will never be completed! That and painting epic is still taking me 3 times longer than it used to - it took me 3 hours to finish off one epic Tau battlesuit last week - its not worth the effort!

And at the end of the day, if my own project nose dives, I dont have the cash to sit around whilst I try to get another job. My local GW have offered me jobs on a number of occasions so I'm lined up with a job in a GW store if I need it, but I have to know the Core systems for that - hence I need to learn them as a priority over epic!

June/July:Eye of Terror
July/August:LoTR: Shadow and Flame
August/September: Warhammer Chaos Beasts
October: IG (guessing this will be the Games Day army)
and LOTR: ROTK to tie in with the film release.

2004 (Provisional - subject to change):
Jan: Bretonnians
Feb: Eldar
April: Wood Elves if we're lucky.
May-June: Tyranids
September/October: 40k4 probably with SM's and new race, the "Hrud" inthe box, being accompanied by the a new SM codex and whirlwind/vindicator kits.

Warhammer armies: Beastmen.
Look at the GW UK preview pics onthe website. they're actually going back to some of the original Realms of Chaos units and fluff which is a great thing (well, I think so...) but some of the models look like they've been a little rushed - not suprising since they're actually doing ALL the original regiments (ie Gors are now Pestigors, Khornegors, TzeenGors and Possibly Slaangors too!) but a shame none the less - the Centigors could have been awsome, but the models I've seen are rather dis proportioned.
