Naw, I am sure they would never stoop that low ... so the drive to copy GW minis exactly is what drives the community still? I was kind of hoping the vast majority of STLs would be different enough to ward off the IP-trolls. Oh well. |

Should we third party retailers who have spent so many years supporting the epic community with new models at great effort and expense just close shop then, this sort of thing is killing us. How about some of those designers out there providing retailers with the option to purchase their work instead and perhaps be a little more creative and do designs that have IP in mind. It is quite possible to create viable and in most cases better proxies without to much effort. |

Agreed. No point mindlessly imitating GW exactly. Until now the home printing scene has likely been to expensive and complicated for most of the gamers. That is changing, and finding a new business model for creators will become very important very soon. |

I don’t feel this is a good place for this sort of thing. I’m not entirely certain but I believe the forum has rules against blatant IP theft . I personally occasionally print some STLs for models there aren’t better sources for but having a public thread here could potentially get the forum in trouble so I think it’s probably better deleted (perhaps discussing it for it a bit first here or not as mods desire). The quality of the reproduction and detail of nearly all the models on Thingiverse is noticeably lower than those of old forumware models or those sold by Vanguard anyway. The Thunderhawk for one is particularly dire, having less detail than the terribly 1980s Thunderbrick. |

I have not recorded all the links for my miniature, but I recently sent an email to someone on here on the Necron stl files I had so he could work out which ones he did not have. I lost a lot of the STL files I had when my computer updated itself and the STLs files I had saved on my desktop thinking they were saved in my own Wargames documents directory were deleted. I have coppied all the ones I have now on my 256Gb flash drive. I am looking for a particular STL file I can not locate anymore. It was for a reduced scale Realms of Battle Necron Tomb Complex, which I previously got off CGtrader at a cost of $10.00 but it has been removed, and I can not find it anywhere. Thankfully I had printed 2 of it off before things went bad. If anyone has the file I would appreciate a copy of it. |

Excellent! There are many many more of course. If anyone dares to go beyond the ordained grimdark concepts for IG vehicles, I did some stuff here: https://www.thingiverse.com/popsicleballista/designs |
