I'm designing an IP-free dropship for my own pleasure. Mayhaps I'll end up putting it on sale, or sell it to a company to produce, or maybe it'll just be for me.

In concept I want it to be usable in games of Epic or Epic-like games to carry 1 Company sized formation (a SHT company, or a Russ company, or an Inf company, including any upgrades).

To give an idea of the size I'm aiming for, I imagine it's probably about the size a Shark Assault Boat from BFG would be in Epic scale.

What do ya'll think of this sketch?

It is 16.4cm long (with the ramp closed) and 4.8cm wide (not including the stub wings - it's 7.7cm wide if you include them).

Obviously it's not fully detailed yet, I'm just pinning down a basic shape.

I will be watching this project with great interest. Is the interior wide enough to fit a strip stand?

The interior is 4cm wide, wide enough for an infantry stand, or a SHT.

Excellent. I would be interested if the price is right, and you decide to make them available. And a set peice like this is worth more to me because of low volume.

needs bigger flight surfaces and or a couple of big vertical lift nozzles. Or not, being as it's from the same universe as the thunderhawk, in which case it needs wind shield wipers. :D

I suppose if I point out that it's not nearly pointy enough to break mach 2 without melting I'd probably be pushing my luck ? seriously though bro, I like the design's similarity to a ww2 landing craft, very nice design work.

My memory is a little hazy but I think the side profile does seem to match the Shark, nice work!

Though using a SHT in a boarding action does strike me as overkill.

I think that you may want to use 4 or 6 smaller engines over the 2 large ones (even if they do look cool). It will help create a sense of scale. Maybe some canard wings at the front would also work.

Years ago I did a few sketches for a dropship that is probably the next size larger to act as a full army transport, like the one on the front of a codex from long ago. I was trying to merge the style of the smaller drop ships with the larger troop transport spacecraft:

also pretty darn cool. You could almost believe it was possible to transport a titan to orbit with aomething like that.

Will you be making this in resin as i think metal will be way to expensive.

If the price is right i will take some off your hands. ;D
