Post subject:  6mm ThunderSquak Heavy Dropship

I've had some requests to make a 6mm Thunderhawk for Epic gamers. This was kind of low on my list, because there are a fair number of official Thunderhawk models already on the market and, frankly, I really dislike the current Thunderhawk.

But then I ran across this thread on the Work In Progress forum. I contacted the poster and asked if I could use his very cool scratchbuild as the basis for my own Thunderhawk, which he generously agreed to. Using that and the design aesthetic of the current generation of Space Marine aircraft, I gave it a shot.

After several days' effort, I present to you, the Javelin-pattern ThunderSquak heavy dropship! It isn't ready for printing quite yet, but hopefully I'll have it up on Shapeways in day or two. There will also be a vehicle transporter variant coming in the near future.

As always, more pics can be found on my blog: http://javelin98.blogspot.com/2015/04/6 ... pship.html

That actually fits into the current aesthetics of GW flyers for 40k really well. I dread to think of the Shapeways cost though, haha!

Yeah, I'm sure the bill won't be pretty!

Here are some pics of the Transporter variant. The gantry clamps underneath the hull come as separate pieces, in case the modeler doesn't want to use them.

Nice design.

Is it properly sized with other aircraft? The FW Epic Thunderhawk is 9.5cm long and ideally this would be similar.

The joys of 3D printing, he could theoretically print both scales :)

Pretty close! This one is 8.7cm long. I don't have one of the FW models, so I had to eyeball it.

I saw this on shapeways last week. It looks very good, and indeed fits the general aesthetics desired (IMO). When one knocks it up to FUD though... watch your wallet!

Given the rarity of FW stuff, however, the price might be worth it. I really like that transporter variant too.

I think we need one that can carry six rhinoceros.
