Also unfortunately their postage rates are too high.

Sadly, yes, Shapeways is very highly priced. I generally make pennies on anything I sell. In two years, I've made about enough money to pay for my laptop ($300). I did make an option available to buy just one not-Monolith, but even that is $14 or so.

However, I'm jonesing for a 3D printer, and if that happens, I might be able to make these a whole lot cheaper than going through Shapeways (he said naively...). Fingers crossed!

Are they hollow? Will they print hollow? Does it make it any cheaper?

I think Nolo has already hollowed them out.

I have to say I loved the look of the Necron stuff saw the price on them and no offense just left the site in disgust. I've seen alot of Stuff on Shapeways I'd like to get but the prices grossly over inflated I think its largely the 3d printing thats doing it but they make buying GW products look cheap lol.

It's a pack of 4 so it's not that bad. But shapeways isn't cheap for sure.

What's wrong with shapewayes?

As Malika2 said ... I'm all about good detail ... and price is usually a consideration as well ... That's why I'm hoping/waiting for a similar piece from Exodus Wars or some other company ... :sos

Indeed I have! So much so that I have had to go back and thicken some pieces to ensure they can print out successfully.

Keep in mind. This is an extremely new technology. The idea that we could use CAD on a routine basis to make custom minis -- precisely the ones we want, designed sometimes hours before in a forum thread -- would have been ludicrous only a few years ago.

In time, prices will drop and quality will improve. That's the natural way of things. To me, the benefit is that I get exactly what I want. To a producer, especially an amateur, it's a way to make ideas that you'd never have been able to pursue without a large, up-front, fixed investment.

It's not "over-priced". It's that the cost, while falling, is still very high. Nobody's to blame. Indeed, everybody in the supply chain is to be applauded. They're either improving the technology, developing the business infrastructure to deliver it, or providing the capital that will fund the mainstreaming of it.

Indeed. Some might say he/she is a font -- nay, a wellspring of wisdom!

Hey, can you do a de-greenskin gubbined version of those trucks in the original link over on Shapeways? I've been looking for 6mm heroic scale trucks for my Planetary Defense Force for YEARS!

No worries -- I did that last July! Here are 5 variants (open bed, covered wagon, flatbed, dump/dozer, and second open bed). These ones have six wheels, but it's easy enough to convert them to halftracks, if you prefer.
