Fair enough, E&C. And thanks for the tooling breakdown.

I know I'm an ornery ol' bar-steward too much of the time - I don't need even the other frothers to tell me that. ;) I don't have many excuses; but I like what I like, and that includes your boosts to 6mm sci-fi, especially the machines.

I think that's a lot less clumsy way of putting the point I tried to make. (As for that, I might not have read the IG page too thoroughly.)

There's a link to this thread on the page now, as well as some outlining of expansion plans.

Judging by the acquired sum it looks like there is quite some interest! Is the design of the alien vehicles final?

Great initiative, sign me up.

Looking forward to seeing where it goes :) I'd love to see more figures and less bases on each sprue - I can just about create a base on my own, it's the sculpted figures I'm willing to pay money for.

Oh, and humanoid slaves! They're in perennial short supply.

Actually, why not team up with some of the excellent laser cutting alternatives to bases? Fenris games do some mean bases.

No.

Very expensive per base and you couldn't get the little dimples on the bases, you'd have to cut actual holes.

As noted before, splitting the bases off from the sprues is a high priority once/if we get funded.
It's all about priorities - first get the basics in place, then stretch for the cool stuff.

Understandable.

Personal Suggestion Ben, if you're not already doing this, I'd suggest using this thread as your FAQ / Redacting machine for your sales spiel. Everytime we're asking clarification here, you know for sure there's 10 others that are going to read it and think / question the same thing. that may make the all the difference in the long run in hitting funding goals :D

This thread is linked to from the IGG page, and I'll be updating the page to clear up ambiguities too.

Silly me. The cromagnoids with big teeth *do* have guns; as I can clearly see on the bigger pictures. In the smaller ones, on my small phone screen, it looked like they were holding two axes. I have some steam robots that might want these cromagnoids as infantry support.

Are you sure the bases are that expensive? Considering what you said about the combined tooling and mold costs I would have thought ply bases could have been a reasonable alternative. You do not get little dimples. However, gluing two thin bases one perforated and one solid gives the same effect. A little more work, but this technique has become increasingly popular.

I guess it depends on the target market. If the point is to provide a way to get new players into Epic, bases are a must. You have to jump through enough hoops to get into it without becoming a wood craftsperson.

I agree

The neat thing about the E&C idea is it is two opposing armies. One shooty and one killy. Works for me.

Yes, laser cut are the the most expensive on a per-base basis. Especially if you're having two base sized things cut and sticking them together to make each base (double the cost instantly).
