Here's an update:

I think we have the casting plan worked out and the caster should start working on it next week. I don't have any price info yet, but given the amount of metal that these guys will take, they will cost more than any of my other stuff.

I also thought up a few more details that I could have added to the models that would have made them look better, but now it's too late. I hate that.

Thanks

Oh, sure Earl. Everyone knows about them, we just didn't tell you.

Seriously, though, not much to update. The casting plan is in place, but I don't think actual casting has started. It will probably be another month before the parts are available.

I will post when I know more. I promise.

Also, thanks for bumping the thread. I didn't feel right doing so on my own - I was afraid it would come across as too self serving. :)

Here's a minor update, since I was asked (and it provides cover for me to bump my own thread).

The latest news is that the master mold work is done and the production molds should be made this coming week. After that the actual parts for sale can be made. Add a week or two for production and another week or two for the product to get to me.

So, still 3 or so weeks off (at least) before I am ready to sell anything. Maybe more like a month.

The wheels are grinding slowly.

In other news, the work on the tower parts that will follow these bunkers has slowed to a crawl. If I can manage the motivation, I may work on them today.

News!

Reports from the field indicate that the number of xenos structures has increased since the initial auguries' readings. There now appear to be structures in the pewter sector.

Parts haves been cast and counted.

Should be in my hands by in a bit over a week. Hopefully, I'll spend the weekend after next sorting and packing.

More news...

The parts are on their way to me as I type this. To be honest, I suspect they should have arrived already but my local PO is terrible. The postal employees here tend to deliver things at their own pace.

I took some time last night and wrote up a catalog for the parts I have available, and then spent some time this afternoon creating a list of everyone that has PM'd or emailed me expressing interest. As soon as I have the parts in hand (Monday or Tuesday night) I will take a few photos, finalize my catalog and email it out.

PM or email me if you want to be included.

In other news, three big things happened this week:
1) a near catastrophic thumb drive failure caused me several sleepless nights. Luckily I had backed-up in December, and the drive was functional enough to [very slowly] copy over the CAD files I've worked on since the last backup.

2) I made a breakthrough with regards to a component for my space-elf sensorium. The only thing harder than adjusting spline-based 3D surfaces is creating a sine-like cutout perpendicular to a spline-based 3D surface.

3) I ran the numbers on all the money I've spent on bronzing, molds, and inventory and discovered I don't really want to know how much I've put into all of this. I've decided to subscribe whole-heartedly to the sunk-cost fallacy.

Excellent news mate, looking forward to receiving the catalogue soon. Love the third point, I have been there for quite some time on projects.

Cheers
Aaron
