Thanks y'all... I've got a long way to go before this is done... and then there's the battleship. :)

Update time:
Right now the top is probably 95% complete. There might be more detail to add here and there and definitely some holes to fill before it gets cast. The prow also needs a bit of work, but I really need to get some weapons on the ship to make sure I don't need to widen the prow before that happens.

On the rear, I've added the final engine cluster, again might need some tweaks on the lower cluster as I get more detail added to make it look right. The underside is probably 60% complete at this point but I've got a lot more framework bits to do before it's in a place to show.

There's also been a lot of work done cleaning up geometry to make things easier to print.

Hmm, perhaps more polygons in the dome, to make it look more rounded. What about some details on the bottom fins as well?

Beyond that you've got a truly awesome hull here! :D

Well the bottom isn't anywhere near done. A lot of areas especially toward the rear have no detail yet. The fin there is one of the areas that is just blocked in. There's also a lot of curves that still need smoothing; the prow is a particularly good example. Since I use a subdivision modifier for that, it's one of the last steps I do before the model is complete.

Time for an update. I finished up the cannon decks yesterday. The net result was that the inset between weapons just wasn't working and got a pretty substantial redo. I'm hoping to finish up the landing decks by the end of the week. which hopefully will mean we'll be ready to start checking the model prior to printing.

Hi!

That is looking fabulously good!

I never got into battlefleet, but things like this will make me reconsider. :)

Been a crazy week and I've had to juggle projects to get everything done. In any event, I've finished up the hanger decks and included a few shots of them and the hangers with the cannons to show how they work together.

Now if we can just get a weapon unit with some giant focused energy beam weapons we'll be cooking with gas!

yes, Beam decks are in the works... just gotta figure out what to do for them. Thinking 2 arches might work. Then the various decks follow the pattern: 1 Arch= Hanger Deck, 2 arches = Beam deck, 3 arches=cannon deck.

Well time for the almost final update to this project. The beam decks and turrets are finally finished and yes, the turrets are separate to allow folks to position them or use their own designs and to aid casting. Now that all of the weapon configurations are complete, I've been able to tweak the prow so everything fits together right. Next up will be clean up on the weapons and prow before adding the subdivision modifiers to smooth out the curves. The last item is the split prow option which it looks like I'll be getting together tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Wow, those turrets are mindblowing. Will those be separate pieces, and if not: how will you then cast it, wouldn't it cause some possible difficulties?
