S'pensive. The factory underestimated some costs (by unfortunately large margins) - we're still zeroing in on what we can afford, but it's going to look closer to the "basic" sprue than the "enhanced" sprue unless we can find some creative solutions.

Gee. That is major annoyance.

Yeah. I may even have to dip further into my pockets further than I already have just to get it delivered. C'est la vie.

What went bonkers? Just so we all know what went wrong. Just stating that it did not work feels quite less than what I hoped getting out of this one.

Basically the production factory that I've been working with underestimated the baseline mould cutting cost (which is done by a sub-contracted company) by an approx factor of 2 (£6k +20% tax instead of £3k +20% tax).

Our options at this point are either to:

- Continue and get as much out of the budget as possible (I think we might get an extra sculpt or two on there, just not the full 4 extra sculpts we'd hoped for, so this is my preferred option at this time).

- Refund to everyone who bought plastics sets (less the IGG & paypal cut that's already gone), and just deliver the metals.

- Produce everything in metal (I've not run the numbers but that may result in an equivalent loss to me as just stumping up for the extra plastic poses myself!).

I would contribute to option number one, E&C.

Ouch, sorry to hear the news Ben, that sucks! :(

Can you negotiate with the company and get them to take some of the hit themselves too? They screwed up badly with their quoted prices and misled you into taking pre-order commitments you're now going to struggle to meet.

Yes, I'm asking them to take on some of the burden, offset against future sales.

Specifically it was based on their advice that I went for the separate bases tool, the separate budget for which could have provided for a more fully varied infantry & AFV's sprue with a few bases on the sprue too, if it hadn't already been spent on cutting the bases tool.

We're also looking into the possibility of trading a few impressions on the tool for a bit of extra variety.

Incorrect estimates are annoying, especially one of that magnitude.

Still, I put my money down when it was the basic sprue, so as long as we get that I shouldn't really quibble.

I'm also looking into how much I can afford personally at this time (we're buying our first house in 2 weeks, so it's not the best time for finding extra cash!), and will divert what I can to ensure that the project is kept (more or less) on track.

Keeping going. Even a basic sprue is better than no sprue.
Agree with the comments above that quite a chunk of the burden is on the company since they gave you to the incorrect information to begin with. I guess you don't have anything in writing you can hold them to?

Dang. They probably have weasel words that will get them off the hook for a flawed quote.

What an annoyance.

To be honest, you should loose the gobblers from the plastic straight away, as they are available in metal. It would be a shame to loose the heavy weapon orc, as otherwise we end up with many many mono pose stands. Loosing the leader would be a real shame, but personally I would be happy to buy a later release of leaders, which I guess would allow you to design them with more detail (and hopefully include heavy heavy heavy metal armored mega leaders!)

It would be a shame to end up with just the one pose orc on the sprue, for me simply because I have quite enough GW epic orks to complete all three armies I'm constructing (Bad moons, feral list, and freebooters for the misses) and was looking forward to mixing them up with the older ones with your heavy weapon sculpt!

Good luck with the house move. Your feel poor for a while after, but buying your first house is a fantastic adventure!

Yeah I expect there is serious legalese on that quote absolving any liability for this. Unless you can prove that they didn't get a vendor quote themselves or that they purposely misquoted you it is what it is.

On better news, congrats on the house, mate. I'm sure you and the fam will have a glorious time living there. Nothing like home-ownership to eat up your hobby time :D

Hi!

I second this request. I'd rather have the heavy weapons than the gobbos. I too have enough mono-posed infantry, so I would rather sacrifice anything else but the multi-pose infantry.
