Well to queue in with the others, I also have started to paint some of the lovely O8 stuff. I will use these with Hind Commander (which uses single basing) but dont want to move 200+ units all one by one. And I may use the Modern Spearhead rules on these, so for keeping it simple I just went with "what looks nice". Bonus: Everything I will paint in the near future may also be used via Team Yankee (apart from me using M1A1 instead of M1s and Apache instead of Cobras for now) I opted for regular Desert Camo on the tanks and aircraft black on the Apache, most pics I found on the net had them either painted in Helicopter Olive greenish or Black. Since I dont own the matching colour on the olive but wanted to paint the fella, I went with Black. I will probably go with 4/4 each colour variant. Now some pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very nice... When I saw them "in the flesh" ("in the armored composite"?), apaches were all olive; pretty sure all US ones had that scheme. |

Perhaps they're an alternate universe version of a flight from the Night Stalkers? ![]() (fairly certain they didn't fly apaches but not my army so... ![]() |

EXCELLENT !!!! Also FYI- Night Stalkers - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/160th_Spe ... irborne%29 IIRC, we were lifted in many times, by some of the 160's units before they became the Night Stalkers. Back in '81-'83, before that they had UH1s then replaced with UH60s ... Of course, many other Army Av units flew AH-64s replacing the AH1s. And I've never seen any US ARMY choppers painted other than olive drab. Back then. Where USAF and USMC birds were camo'd ... |

Well, my Google Search dug up an article with a pic of USMC pushing a pitch black heli during Desert Storm. And a pic of a row of Black Apaches in the Desert. Plus it looks cool and I am going to be pretty liberate with camo ![]() |

Great googly-moogly! If this doesn't put to bed the "no detail, too small" argument for good, I don't know what will! |

You sure that "black" isn't dark Olive Drab ? Not that is matters, you should paint your models any colors you like ! ![]() |

Pretty. Plus the official "painting guides" by the US military indicate black as a viable colour. Got the link on a different machine, will post as soon as I get back to said PC |
