Okay, I received this reply from Forgeworld on what are the weapons on the Protector:

Hi

I just managed to catch the sculptor Will before he left the office.
Apparently the turrets are Ion cannons and the stubs on the front are Rail Gun batteries. He also told me that the large launch bay underneath is for ordnance and the little ones on the front are for shuttles etc and possibly Orca Drop ships.

Regards
Dean Winson

Xisor's reply:
Drop the Grav Missile to 1 on the Castellan and throw in a Prow Deflector.

Warden should stick with the Ion Cannons.

Alternatively, the Castellan *could* pick up the 2 Ion Cannon role and the Warden could take that of a 'heavy railgunship', but I still prefer what we have now.

For the Protector, I'd say either the two 'side' guns could go to Fp3(not quite as keen here), or the middle 'prow' array could go to Fp5 or 6, simply to account for sheer 'badass' of the model.

Again, you know my insistance on the whole thing, but the Protector should only have S1 Launchbays. Those 'holes' in the front of the ship are on the Emissary and the Castellans too. The Emissary is to have the LB since it has little 'runway' things down the side of the main hull-wing joins and the Protector has that thing on the bottom.

Otherwise, it looks like a nice alternative list.

Just 'too' advanced for my take on things(90* :80: ).

I have this disliking for 1 torpedo vessels. However the PD is interesting yet expensive for an escort.

If I ever want to become a Champion I agree. :D

That's an option, but indeed the 2IC Warden & RB Castellan is better.

I think 8 batteries backed up by those IC is strong enough. If everybody decides against the second Launch Bay the prow batteries will upped to 6.

I like a small carrier in low point games, othewise Tau are out-ordnanced in small games, even with ITS.

Thanks!

Just 'too' advanced for my take on things(90* :80: ). I don't think so. :p

Of a curious note, and one that'd 'help the model better', have you recently considered the 2*S2 Missile Launcher for the Protector?

Perhaps that'd 'slightly' offset the lack of carrier-ness. Indeed, that, alongside the increased power to the Prow array should probably help the whole shebang along a bit better.

Nope, no 2*S2 on the Protector. I'll stick to the 2 Launch bays, really really really really really ??? .

The Custodian will have 2*S3 missiles. It has two seperate launchers where as the Protector has only one.

Added orbitals

But but but but!

Of everything different or doable, I really think the Protector simply doesn't have enough to it to allow for the extra Lb. Still, it is your list afterall.

Nice to see the Orbitals remain similar to the SG ones, I'm quite a fan of their current setup.

Me too. I'm thinking of making security orbitals a more modular concept.
