Imp Fleet list for review

My fleet at the moment stands at 6 crusiers and 7 escorts

Crusiers:
Solar Admiral Ld 10
Guardian Angel - Mars Class (Flagship)
Arch Angel - Overlord Class
Ray of Hope - Gothic Class
Defender of Freedom - Lunar Class
Defender of Light - Lunar Class
Winged Justice - Dictator Class

Escorts:
Halo Squadron - 4 Cobras
- 3 Swords

You may notice the lack of escorts in my fleet this is because i use them only for defense against other escorts as i mainly use my crusiers to do the main fighting.

The Mars and the Dictator will be squarded so i can make ful use of the Ld 10 so will the 2 lunars :) cuz i love those things.
the Overlord and Gothic will freelance and the escorts used to defend like i said.

My fleet it painted white with silver outlines and grey drybrushing and it turned mout better than i thought it would.
The names for the ships i decided should be very angelic do to the nature of my fleet.

i'd like to know what you think and i don't mind if you think i'm off my head because i probaly am ?:oo

PS:I have aload of fluff written about this fleet if you want to hear it just tell me and i'll post it on the board

PSS:Any thoughts names for the swords i would be thankful for.

1) name for swords: you seem to follow an angelic pattern. This holds even if some names aplied to imperial vessels like "defender of freedom" when the Imperium is a fascist construction made me laugh ;) Anyway, for angelic names I would go for Avenging Flames or Swords of Purity or something like that. Basically something that burns/shines and something that is hand held (weapon) or pure. Spears of retribution is an other option for example

2) I would drop the solar admiral. Too expensive and you don't need it at this points cost (1500, right?)

3) with the saved points I would get an Exorcist over the Dictator if you plan on quadroning them. The WB of the exorcist are 45 cm in range, the same as those of the mars, and more powerful than those of the Dictator as well, so hey complement the mars' firepower better. It also has 10 hits over the 8 of the dictator. And all for +10 points over the dictator's price. A bargain :)

4) Maybe it is me, but I find 2 BC overkill. Obviously it is more overkill a BB and a BC, b ut hey. I still feel weird with the minimum amount of cruisers to field those.... dunno. This is not an adfvise, but simply how I feel about that. :)

5) I would take a small firestorm squadron as well. I like escorts in higher numbers than you, even if I am not an escort fan so far but I find them useful none the less. I make mixed escuadrons as well of frigates (cobra destroyers remain on their own) to add more skills to any given escort squadron.

6) remember to squadron the 2 lunars.

Again, remember that heaven is not a democracy or a liberal state, so freedom is anathema to it ;) Free will and freedom are 2 very different things. Maybe naming stuff after real archangels like Michael or saints ?

Escorts, escorts, escorts, escorts and a few more!!!!!  :)

How many points is this list? I'm guessing around 1750pts.

Against other Imperials and Chaos, you may do okay with the small amount of escorts.  Instead relying on the massive amount of firepower.

However, I think the fleet will be very vulnerable to an Eldar fleet, or any fleet that can release a large amount of torpedoes.  Which includes Orks (their first salvos are very scary, I know, I do it!!!   }:)   )

I'm guessing your tactics will revolve around sticking together, and overwhelming an opponent.  This is fine, as long as you keep to your plan.  This may mean flying straight into torpedoe waves.

If you decide to break formation to avoid incoming attacks, you will find it hard to reposition back together.  And then fleets like Orks and Eldar in particular, will pick off the straglers.

Personnally I would drop at least a B.C. for more escorts.  But I have a different fighting style.  You obviously like your cruisers, so go for it.  Just remember to stick to your plan.  Cruisers struggle to adjust to new things, so make the opponent react to you, rather than the other way around.

As Xavi mentioned about the Imperium being facist I agree but have made up my own fluff for this fleet. They no longer fight for the Imperium but they don't fight for the Chaos. There sort of a Neutral fleet they fight to defend the Imperium from it's enemys but don't take commands from it and don't use it's facilitys.

If you want i'll post the fluff up on the board

Abut the battlecrusiers i took them for tactical flexibility. Althougth you think this fleet may be underpowered agaisnt Eldar one of my main opponents is a eldar player the scores up to date are 7 to 2 in my favour.

I am considering buying some Firestorms as they have decent stats. Im also considering buying an apoclyse when i reach 2000 points can you tell me if you think this makes me a lance heavy

The 2 lunars are in squadron i might have forgot to mention as i'm new to forums

The reason i take the Solar Adimral is that because my carriers are in a Squadron to improve they prettymuch pathetic firepower. it means i have to take the whole group as one leadership teset and they have to be on the same order which will obvisoly be "reload" so if i fail the check no fighterss that turn at all. so i took 10ld to reduce the chance of that

Also the fact i like the name "Solar Admiral"  :D

As Shadow Hunter said about my fleet turning can be problem  and the 2 losses are form when the Eldar player manged to get behind me and of course Imps escorts are no match for eldar ones and after several mintues of me cursing about  :oo  it i got hammered and sulked :L  

And about the torpedos i find it not much of a problem as the armoured prow and the turrets mean i lose about 1 maybe 2 hitpoints if i'm unlucky

Hi...
My reccomendations-

Yup, more escorts! -Firestorms are cool, especially tagging along with a lance Dauntless... Also get another pack of Cobras- yum yum, more torpedos!  :cool:
Another pack of cruisers would be nice too- as Xavi said, it would seem more 'fluffy' with more of the 'line' ships.... For those, I'd make them up as a couple of Tyrants.

Apocalypse- good ship, but must be used with care- 6 lances aside is frightening for an opponent.... but remember, they only have 30cm range- my tactics are usually to use it for taking out those nasty starforts and other armour 6 things.. or just rushing it into a big group of ships and Locking On..
