A simple question realy. Which Ork BattleShip do you prefer and why? How does it play in your fleet? And what stengths/weaknesses have you found with the different classes or Ork Battleship? DethDeala KroolBoy Gorbag'z SlamBlasta Hamma Taking into account points cost I reakon the Hammer offers the most. With pretty good weapon strength and decent range. The Gorbagz is oviously the most powerful, but is alot more costly than a Hammer.. a whole 65pts Lances are weedy IMO so Ive never realy concidered the SlamBlaster. Never tried a DethDeala KroolBoyz are Orky with some nice big... but often ineffective gunz. Let the debating begin! |

For our gaming out here, we are all at a handicap. The ONLY battleship ever available was 'Gorbag's Revenge' at any hobby store within 200 miles. Because of this fact, only rarely has someone attempted to use one as a different persona. For myself, I have four of them now. I use them as "Hammer" battlecruisers, mostly. The wonderfull 'chin organ' of bombardment canon prove useful a heck of a lot. As 'Hammers" they cost less too. I think I've noted before how the 'fluff' said that the battleships were just built up hammer class anyway, so nobody objects to using a battleship as a battlecruiser. If I was to vote, I would have to lean toward Gorbag's Revenge, because of this dual use ability. Of the three others, only one even interests me. So here's the opening salvo - anyone want to defend their favorite? G.F. |

Well, Gorbags is the best choice IMO as it is an Ork Carrier that actually has a useable ordnance strength combined with high leadership (for Orks). Combine this with a couple of terror ships (or a Space Hulk) and you'll be able to use their AC limit for Gorbags. I'm not really fond of 'wasting' Launch bays by using any of the other BB's as gun boats. Cheers, RayB |

Thanx for the advice. Ive asked this same question of a few forums and it seems that the general view is that the Gorbagz is by far the best... with the DethDeala being a second favorate. Everyone meritz Hammerz but the KroolBoy and SlamBlaster dont seem to be very popular at all. |

Has anyone run Battleship heavy Ork fleets? e.g Dethdeala, 2 Hammers and 6 Kroozers in 1,500 points game. If so what battleships did you take and what split of Kroozers between Kill Kroozers and Terror ships? Cheers James |

OK- so looks like suggesting taking Terror ships instead of Kill Kroozers. But no real mention of Ork battleships other than Gorbags Revenge. Cheers James |

Well yerh. As I pointed out its a bit incomplete but its a good start if you want an effective Ork fleet for basic gamez. ![]() It covers 1500pt games of an 8-10 turn basis. Personly I wouldnt sudjest simply increasing the number of terror ships for a 2000pt-3000pt battle expecialy if it is running more turns. Ive got some big gripez with the Ork fleet. Mainly the crappiness of the Escortz. Id rather see some strict restrictions on the amount of Kroozers an ork fleet can have countered by some kick arse escorts. ie... only one Kroozer per 12 escorts or something like that. That would bring the Ork fleet into line with Ork fluff and make it more of a horde fleet as it should be. At the moment the Ork fleet is most effective when played in an ordenance heavy IN fleet style... which just seems wrong to me. Personly I feel BFG Orkz have very little Orky character, which is a shame as in all the other GW games they have plenty. food for thought? http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums....start=0 |

Hi Krooza One of the early points about only 2 dice for AAF is one that always took me by surprise. I know Orks get a slight advantage of being able to pass LD test for AAF automatically. Might a;so lead to more Kill Kroozers as Terror Ships would have the dilemna of AAF or RO on 2nd & following turns. It's also a relatively simple suggestion which does nt involve hanging the unit stats. I also like the mob-rule for escorts. It is a mechanism that GW have used in other games for Orks and I think it encourages large squadrons without going down the points discount route. I would also welcome greater variety in Ork Kroozers. Whether some official variants (preferred option) or Ork ship design rules (more Orkly but might be difficult to playtest/balance). Where were the 4 variant Ork Kroozers featured? Was this on old official BFG Group? Or in Fanatic online magazine? Hang on- I carried on reading the link- they were posted on Part Maw? So presumably completely unofficial? Is GWS still accepting experimental rules as PDF on SG website? That would bring them to wider audience. I like speed boost- you know that every Kaptin want to press that "Big-red button" as often as possible. Some interesting ides there on fu=irst page. Will have to read more when next log-on.
