Just a correction, it's 5 shortlisted entries. Wish it could have been 10.

I am not being smug nor trying to be. I really wish more entries could have been posted.  :(

I know[hence copious smilies], I know! I'm humbly [if bitterly!  :(8: ] jesting!

I'm quite glad that decent entires got through. Unfortunately I can't help but feel someone wanted to see *some* form of Inquisition thing in the end, as illustrtated in the first ship... I wasn't too impressed with it. Still, I wasn't especially keen on the Favoured Concubine, but I think that's a personal gripe on the butchery of Dark Eldar ethics and ideas more than a problem with the article. The rest were pretty decent[inc. & esp. the Raza], but can't help but feel that some generally better articles were left out for worse reasons. For instance the final part of Nerroth's article was fine IMO, totally aside from the main bulk of the Q'orl article!

It's nice to see great work for the hobby[Raza and Lightbringer esp.], but I really feel a bit short changed. Just remember: You buy want to represent the Kroot Warspheres as present during the Kroot's early expansion into space so need a fleet filled with them!  :;):  :;):

Rather lame to have 5 finalists and let the judging be done by Matt Keefe and not us. Matt is a fine bloke, some good things and some crappy things in BFG by him.

Bah.

The Raza and the Lightbringer were better by leaps and bounds. Leaps and bounds.

It pretty much won because of the cool picture. The cool picture... which wasn't the point of the competition. ?:/

Xisor

EDIT: Not only that, but it's now essentially cannon stuff further propogating the 'Oh my: Dark Eldar are Chaos Eldar, nananananaa!'

:80:

Not wanting to leap to the defense of SG, but something like this is, by its very nature, a subjective decision. The criteria used to select a winner, and even the initial short list, is different for each person who would do it.

I dont feel that the decision is a bad one in any way, and I think that some of the short listed were better than others. The inclusion of an actual picture of the assembled mini as (part of the) reasoning for its victory is logical and makes sense for a competition based on a wargame, although it would have been good if this had been broadcast in advance to clarify the issue.

The way that SG games are going, any indication of commitment for the games can only be a good thing, and SG just running the event, donating (non-profit) prizes, promoting discussion across numerous boards and highlighting the game in general is a good thing. Who actually won and why is really a secondary issue.

Congratulations to all five short listed. Job well done!

CS, have you read Archer's post in the 'post your character ship' thread? Andy says he could freely post his entry where he wanted.

I have indeed, however I am not entirely sure of the implications. As I understood it, fiction based on the article would be OK to distribute to the masses, but that is different to the actual article and stats submitted.

In the end, this seems like a mine field and easiest to simply say that we accept new stuff that has not been submitted to SG at any time - since I am sure that we dont need much of an excuse to build something new!  :p

Folk's have been permitted to spill their work over on the SG forum, and I thought I'd make sure that you all see this one:

http://img16.imagevenue.com/img.php....oll.jpg

It's Magelord's submission and ... it speaks for itself.

 ?:(8: ?:O ?:8:
...

:D

Seeing that makes me mightily unimpressed with GW...

[If the Favoured Concubine can win because of "ooh pretty", then so could that!]
