It wasn't that difficult.

Step one: take the shuricat bit from the Falcon kit.
Step two: Add two support beams from any of the cities of death building kits
Step three: add some chaos batteries to the beams. Use some thin spears or antenna bits to add slide railsin between them along the beams
Step four: stick 2 IN launchbays together twice to make the docking modules and attach them to the center piece
Step five: add you favourite turrets, antenna and other extras from your bits box.

Some nice ships!

Vanvlak - I like the docked ships.  And, I'm glad you like the "monster".

Great Harlequin - I quite like like the color scheme, namely the gradiations seen.  I particularily like the prow.

Zhai - really like the painted engine glow!

Galactic,
If your pictures are yellow, its probably the lighting.  I'm guessing you are taking the pictures inside, without flash.  Without the flash, the camera needs to stay open longer, and the yellowness seen in standard light bulbs throw the colors off.  There are a few ways to help this:
1- Try taking the pictures outside in bright light.

2- If #1 can't work, try inside, on a bright day, in a windowed room, with the lights off

3- try using the flash.  Usually, this doesn't work well.

Hope this helps,
CF

Thank for the photo tips.
Part of my confusion, C.F., is that my other pics were taken in the same room, same lighting, and came out fine.  I usually work till after dark, so outside is no improvement. (Also, lately we have had such dust storms that I have to wipe the dust off a mini before I paint or take a pic, so anything outside is going to invole bad light, etc.)
ehlijen, on ebay you say?  I must watch for some. Also very neat dry dock.  I have some lengths of wood that look to be squared off in the size you show, from other projects.  I'm going to save the photo (if you are okay with that), so I can refer to it later.
Bother! Must go again, too many interuptions.
G.F.

Sure :)

If it wanted to keep it secret I wouldn't have posted it on the internet. And it's not like I own any IP on that...

If you use beams a bit broader, you might be able to use battery bits both pointing up and down for an even bigger ship yard look. I was thinking about it at the time, but only had those batteries spare, so I couldn't do it.

Thanks again,
I feel odd about using pics for anything, without asking first.  I think the dry-dock you posted answers a problem I was wrestling with.  My battlestation/repair yard idea was snagged on how to put vessels next to, or into, it and still have battlestation ability.  With 'standoff' drydocks, well then I can space them out and keep the station battle ready.
I posted a 'Heavy' escort photo.  All sides in our group can field such heavy escorts.  We feel that a 'hole' in the design of ships is neatly filled this way.  Just like WWII destroyers got larger and more heavily armed - and called 'Fleet' destroyers - we felt there was room for the same idea.  Some of those 'Fleet' destroyers in WWII were equal to light cruisers in firepower.
The group here generally like what I come up with, because I try to keep balance, and not just come up with some 'super-ship' that would be 'unbeatable' by anyone else.  I'm even getting heat from two of them to retouch paint and enter my old Space Fleet 'Emperor' class battleship.  I think I have only a few hours until the competition closes. (31 July GMT time?)  I said I would at least throw it onto this thread, if I can't get it in at the wire.
My morning break is over, must fly.
G.F.

Whoa!  No new gossip since this morning.
I wanted to get my last old ship entry in under the wire, but could not get detailing on it first.  So my old 'Emperor' is on the list, unfinished or not.  It has had some use as a cargo/troop transport, along with some others.  Some of us enjoy fighting our way among large convoys, even heavily protected ones, and shooting everything up.  Some tougher transport ships are needed.
I hope the rest of you get in 'under the wire' with some more entries, I've very much enjoyed the really sharp looking entries.  As well as some really cool ideas to expand my own gaming.
I think the yellow coloring is caused by the low sun coming in a window behind me.  The other pics were much later at night, and turned out truer in color.  If not that little difference in time, I don't know what else it could be - yet.
    Gotta go already....

... and I'm done! My last entry just entered with 7 hours to go. :sigh:

I've only been in to BFG for about 3 months now, but the quality of ships on display here is outstanding. I also don't envoy the judges who have to pick a winner in the conversion contest. As there are some amazing conversions out there.

Nice work all,

 :D

Yup times nearly up, and I'm kicking myslef for not putting my Firestorm escourts on last night. As I read the rules this morning at work and see its closing at 4pm, just an hour and a half before I get home.

Anyways best of luck to everyone.

93 entries! This is my first time in this so I don't know how it compares to previous ones, but it sure sounds like a lot.

Best of luck to everyone, it was sure cool to see all these nice ships!
