Wow, a playtester! i Thought we were only two...
I you don't mind, due to the extremely low frequency of postig, post yor BR here in this thread. That way it will not disappear as it has happened several times before.

BTW, i really need to get my rulebook back to play BFG again. Lately it's all E:A and Armies of Arcana.

Here's the first playtest, the second will follow. Yannic will post the detailed fleet lists soon. I've tried not to put in too many subjective stuff, just sticking to the facts. Discussion will follow I suppose :)
------
Rogue Trader Playtest 1 (750pts, no scenario, 4 turns)

Sides: Rogue Traders (Galleon, Merchantman, 2x Lorcha, 2x Hellebore) vs. Chaos (Hades, Carnage, Devastation, 3x Infidel) (Chaos moves first)

The first turn is spent by both forces moving towards each other. The chaos fleet sets off on a flanking move intending to maximize its range advantage by making a large arc around the left flank of the Traders. The Traders move forward in a straight line.

The second turn the chaos fleet moves into range (@60cm) and fires all its available weapons (Carnage and Hades on Lock on, Devastation) on the nearest Lorcha, crippling it and inflicting a port weapons damaged crit. The Devastation also launches two waves of two bombers.
In the Traders? second turn the Trade Galleon and Merchantman let loose at a squadron of chaos infidels which wandered within 30cm of them, destroying one and shooting down a shield on another. The Eldar Hellebores position themselves behind the chaos fleet, but cannot take a shot yet.

In the third turn the main chaos fleet continues in its circular movement, now coming within 30cm of the Traders? fleet. The full force (LO Carnage, LO Hades, Devastation and the two remaining infidels) attacks the closest ship, being the Merchantman, crippling it. The Rogue Trader fleet fails all BFI rolls.
In the Traders? part of the turn the Galleon uses its Displacement drive to move behind the Chaos fleet. The Displacement Drive gives quite interesting strategic options to a slow ship like the Galleon. The Hellebores, who have by now positioned themselves up the tailgate of the Devastation, and the Trade Galleon mage to shoot down 2 shields on the chaos carrier. The Merchantman?s fire is ineffective.

In turn 4 the chaos fleet moves in for the kill, but doesn?t do a lot of damage only bringing down two shields on the merchantman with the Devastation, Hades and Carnage at 45cm. The two bomber waves launched in turn 2 finally find their mark, completely carpet-bombing a Lorcha out of existence (7 hits made on a Lorcha with only 2hp left). The included picture shows the battle at this point.

In the equalizing turn, the Trade Galleon once more uses its Displacement Drive to get into the rear arc of the Devastation and together with the Hellebores manages two make two hits on the Devastation which has braced for impact (1 save made, 2 failed). The remaining Lorcha takes out one more infidel escort.

Final result: Chaos 102,5 VP, Rogue Traders 0 (one more infidel killed would have meant victory with 120VP for the Trader)

Rogue Trader Playtest 2 (750pts, no scenario, 4 turns)

Sides: Rogue Traders (Galleon, 3x Lorcha, 4x Brigantine) vs. Imperial (2x Lunar, Mars, 3x Cobra) (Trader moves first)

The first turn the Rogue Trader fleet moves forward with the Galleon on AAF and the rest making normal movement.
The Imperial fleet fires a LO nova cannon, however fails to hit and just knocks down a shield on a Lorcha. 3x6 torpedoes are launched in a wide spread which end up approximately 25cm from the Rogue Trader fleet. A wave of 3 bombers and 1 fighter is launched.

In turn 2 the Rogue Trader fleet manages to dodge the torpedo salvo but is split in two as a result with the Brigantines evading to port and the main force turning to starboard. The Galleon launches a 4-strong fighter wave which neutralizes the imperial bomber wave.
In the Imperial turn the nova cannon fires once again at the Lorcha?s and once again fails to score a direct hit, instead knocking down a shield. The Lunars manage to come within 30cm of the Trade Galleon and knock down its 3 shields and score a hit. The dual lances on the Mars score a single shield hit on the Brigantine squadron.

In turn 3 The Rogue Trader fleet manages to get up close and personal with a Lunar unloading a total of 20WB@15cm and 28WB@30cm on it. The Lunar copes well and receives only 2 shields down and 2 hits. 4 single assault boats from the reloaded Galleon make short work of the Cobra squadron, destroying all escorts.
In the Imperial turn the Lunars unload on the Brigantines (which brace) at point black range (15cm), killing one Brigantine and knocking a shield down on a second. The Mars fires a broadside at 30cm into the Trade Galleon but only makes a single shield hit.

In turn 4 a total of 28WB from the Galleon and Lorcha?s hit on the Mars, which failed to brace, crippling it. 5WB from the remaining Brigs take down a shield on a Lunar.
In the last Imperial turn the combined fire of Mars and Lunars (mitigated by the mars being crippled) takes down 3 shields on a Lorcha and the Galleon. The attached picture shows the battle at this point.

Final Score: Rogue Traders 157,5VP, Imperial 0VP

Yannic will post detailed fleet lists including upgrades for the Traders. We also made quite a few changes as a result of playtesting in Rogue Trader points which will need to be approved/ridiculed :)

?

Isn't that just the rules list.

We were interested in the used test fleets as well!

At this pace this fleet is going to be published when GW goes bankrupt!!!

I suppose now it's time to retrieve my BFG rulebook and test the rules a little bit more (although i thought they were sufficiently balanced right now)

sorry guys! But the good news is I've got my internet working at home finally!
I'll sort out the fleetlists tonight. I thought our release deadline was sometime in may? ( horizon?)
Haven't had the time to do another playtest, since college is once again interfering with exams ( end of january).
