Here's the first playtest, the second will follow. Yannic will post the detailed fleet lists soon. I've tried not to put in too many subjective stuff, just sticking to the facts. Discussion will follow I suppose ------ Rogue Trader Playtest 1 (750pts, no scenario, 4 turns)
Sides: Rogue Traders (Galleon, Merchantman, 2x Lorcha, 2x Hellebore) vs. Chaos (Hades, Carnage, Devastation, 3x Infidel) (Chaos moves first)
The first turn is spent by both forces moving towards each other. The chaos fleet sets off on a flanking move intending to maximize its range advantage by making a large arc around the left flank of the Traders. The Traders move forward in a straight line.
The second turn the chaos fleet moves into range (@60cm) and fires all its available weapons (Carnage and Hades on Lock on, Devastation) on the nearest Lorcha, crippling it and inflicting a port weapons damaged crit. The Devastation also launches two waves of two bombers. In the Traders? second turn the Trade Galleon and Merchantman let loose at a squadron of chaos infidels which wandered within 30cm of them, destroying one and shooting down a shield on another. The Eldar Hellebores position themselves behind the chaos fleet, but cannot take a shot yet.
In the third turn the main chaos fleet continues in its circular movement, now coming within 30cm of the Traders? fleet. The full force (LO Carnage, LO Hades, Devastation and the two remaining infidels) attacks the closest ship, being the Merchantman, crippling it. The Rogue Trader fleet fails all BFI rolls. In the Traders? part of the turn the Galleon uses its Displacement drive to move behind the Chaos fleet. The Displacement Drive gives quite interesting strategic options to a slow ship like the Galleon. The Hellebores, who have by now positioned themselves up the tailgate of the Devastation, and the Trade Galleon mage to shoot down 2 shields on the chaos carrier. The Merchantman?s fire is ineffective.
In turn 4 the chaos fleet moves in for the kill, but doesn?t do a lot of damage only bringing down two shields on the merchantman with the Devastation, Hades and Carnage at 45cm. The two bomber waves launched in turn 2 finally find their mark, completely carpet-bombing a Lorcha out of existence (7 hits made on a Lorcha with only 2hp left). The included picture shows the battle at this point.

In the equalizing turn, the Trade Galleon once more uses its Displacement Drive to get into the rear arc of the Devastation and together with the Hellebores manages two make two hits on the Devastation which has braced for impact (1 save made, 2 failed). The remaining Lorcha takes out one more infidel escort.
Final result: Chaos 102,5 VP, Rogue Traders 0 (one more infidel killed would have meant victory with 120VP for the Trader)
