I've just looked at the Scorpion (the replacement for the Tempest) (pre-painting) after owning it for years. Am I missing something, or is the turret unable to rotate over the cockpit canopy?

I could put a washer underneath and lift it a bit higher, but the gun barrels don't go high enough to go over.

I searched to see if other people had had this problem, but I guess the model is old enough that any complaints would be from a long time ago.

thanks
andy

Which one Andy? E40k or EA?

Did they make a new scorpion for Epic A?

I think it was an E40K model. But it isn't the older Tempest.

On Ebay, I saw a fancier version that has the cockpit in the middle. The auction says it was the final version.

So I guess I'm asking about the Epic 40K version.

thanks Dave

This sucker?

From the assemble pictures I've seen:

my guess is the the flair of the barrel or the spirit stones on it are catching the cockpit. If you're looking to have the turret pivot, I'd start with removing the bottom spirit stone. If that doesn't work, take a file to the bottom of the barrel. Either that or just offset the turret as opposed to pointing it straight ahead.

That's him, thanks. It seems a worse problem than I'd expect, for pieces that were made together. I think a combination of a washer, a bit of trimming/filing, and maybe even a bit of bending will probably do it. But gluing it just off will probably not be noticeable, either.

thanks

Yes, it looks like this:

While I think its cool, I still love the Epic 40k version myself. It was these kind of decisions to make these to begin with where I started getting frustrated with Jervis Epic A decisions. He really could have left all of the existing Epic 40k models alone for Epic A, and done a lot more for the game by producing newer Chaos, Dark Eldar, and Tau stuff that had never been released.

I can't remember the guy's name, but the modeller who did the Epic 40k range was a genius. Just all the variants of the same model was really awesome. I really don't see anyone else doing that today.

I ended up just gluing my Epic 40K version slightly off from straight ahead. Close enough.

I can't agree that we'd be better off without the EA eldar, they include some of the nicest models in the range - these eovs and the new revenants...

However the e40k range as a whole was indeed awesome like you say. If I remember correctly the guy who sculpted those multi type tanks was actually working in the mail order dept and got the job after building a full size thunderhawk on the side.

Err sorry no, getting a bit carried away there aren't I? As in, in-scale 40k I assume!

Building a 30m thunderhawk on side would be a pet project of Fred Dibnah proportions!!!! Jimmy, look him up!
