Hi I am just wondering if anyone could take some time to explain what the rules differnces are between these two systems are? I play Epic Armagedon atm and it is the only rule set i know, however i was looking through the tournaments coming up and most seem to be using army list from Epic40k. Are there many differences? Many thanks ToS |

Where are you in the world? In the UK I don't know of any Epic40K events they are all Epic A. |

ahh ok that explains why there are two forums lol the tournament was just a example. i am may be looking to go to one of the EA tournaments but i have quite limited experience (partly because no one plays it in Southport. UK) ![]() which tournaments would i be ok to go to? as the ones coming up in Mansfield and Manchester seem like heavy veteran tournaments. Thanks ToS ps. i know this is not realy strictly on topic ![]() |

any EUK tournament will be fine, there are a lot of very good players, but it's still a fantastic atmosphere! quite often at tournaments people will be playing some of their first games, nobody goes easy on them, but everyone is super helpful with rules queries, I've even had players give me advice on how to avoid them beating me 3 or 4-0..... I can speak from experience, I'd only played 9-10 games of epic before attending a tournament early this year and it was great! bearing in mind they use a swissing system so if you get a pasting in your first game, you'll generally end up with someone else who did in your second game and stand a better chance of getting a draw or win. everybody plays to win (and when the big boys play against each other there is much tension and beard stroking) but nobody wants to win at the cost of an enjoyable game (my fave game so far was getting a masterclass from Tiny-tim in how to dismantle my army, I learned a great deal in my 4-0 loss!) |

There have been many players attend tournaments after one or two games. They may not have won many games but they come back for more so can't be all bad ![]() I'd say go for a one day event first, Manchester or Open War and see how you go. If you go for Manchester one game is played using a variant scenario. |

I myself had played a grand goal of 2 games before attending my first tournament and had an entirely pleasant experience. As others have said, everyone else is more than happy to help with rules clarifications etc. |

+1 to what Rug, Meph, MikeT etc have said really. They might be 'tournies', but in reality they are as much a way of bringing people together to play Epic as they are about winning. I'm another who played only a fistful of games before attending an EUK tourney - now I try to go as many as Real Life allow. Regardless of the result, I've not had a game I haven't enjoyed. Try one, what's the worst that can happen?! ![]() |
