Hi,
I just wanted to drop by and check if there is interest in one of the following here:

* Heavily modified epic 3ed Edition Rules
* Necron Army Rules for epic 40k
* Sororitas Detachment Rules

I don't want to bore you with my live story, so lets just say those are finished and have been playtested.

And if there are any people interested in playing in germany, cologne (or close) this would be great.

Cheers,
Athistaur

Yes all fan work for epic appreciated! While I don't play e40k currently I'd be interested in seeing what you've done with it.

Filesize is too big, i put it on my server tomorrow.
I just realized that the rules are written in german, i put them up either way, but i doubt I'm going to translate them :-(

Files are up:
For the Rules:

For both armylists:
http://www.athistaur.de/data/ArmeeListe_4.xls
(If you look at the armylists and want to use them without the modified rules double the firepower of all units without Anti-Tank.
Close combat has been changed as well, old value would be 3 for necron and 2 for Sisters of Battle.)

Care to summarize the changes for those of us who can't speak German (and, who are too embarassed to show the file to our German friends)

Sure,
We haven't played with the unmodified rules since ages, so i may miss something, but here are the most significant Changes:

Movement Phase:
-Detachements are moved alternating
-Initiative; whoever won the inititative may choose to move first, and may choose to move last.
-You move one unit of the detachment first, with the speed of the slowest unit in the detachment, then you place the remaining detachment behind this front-unit and in coherency
-Transports: Loading/ Unloading of units within a detachment is ignored.

Fire Phase:
-Detachements fire alternating
-Initiative; whoever won the inititative may choose to fire first, and may choose to fire last.
-Firepower is translated into dice, no tables used anymore, no colum shifts.
- Causalities are removed from front to back always
- Blast Markers are place as in E:A
- Antitank is just another dice and rolled with all the rest. For each AT dice one Vehicle is considered to have an amor of 4+. (Prevents sniper at the cost of slightly higher firepower in mixed detachments.

Close Combat
- Removed additional Movement (Assault order allows to move into assault in the Movement Phase)
- Close Combat Mechanic is basicly taken from E:A
- Most Signifikant, no winner of an assault is determined.

War Engines
- Take their own set of orders (movement orders cancel the removed additional movement in the close combat phase.)
- Only War Engines can cause a critical hit
- War Engines can be equiped (ex. targeting system allows to reroll a single weapon)

Victory Condition
- Always fight till one player is wiped out or surrenders.
- Mission Goals do not give Moral/Victory Points, but if captured grant a race specific bonus.(ex. additional hero)

Reserve
- tinkered with reserve rolls, Detachments are rather bought than randomly pop in.

The System was designed foremost with the following guidelines in mind:
- no lookup tables
- no power to the dice (aka a single dice should never have too much impact)

Do you just assume infantry rides vehicles if they have enough?
Is it possible to destroy a vehicle and kill those riding inside?

Post subject:  Re: Modified Rules for Epic 40k

As far as Detachments transport a whole other detachment rules are unchanged, if you destroy the transport, the units inside have to save against a hit or die.

But within a detachment we indeed just assume that infantery use their transport when necessary. We do not track which unit is mounted and if a transport is destroyed no further units are. Usually we don't even remove the transported units from the battleground and act as if they board at the beginning o their movement and debark at the and of their move.
However, often if a transport is destroyed and the detachment moves on, the soldiers on foot are left behind(because they slwo the detachment down) and removed

We so far never had an issue with this and it did speed up movement.

Oh another rule change i forgot (edited in above):
-You move one unit of the detachment first, with the speed of the slowest unit in the detachment, then you place the remaining detachment behind this front-unit and in coherency.
