My project for this year is an Imperial Army
Image
I'm not planning to collect anywhere near all this but I'm using this as a framework. What I'm hoping to do is to create roughly 2000pt themed regiment forces from several parts to either use as separate armies or combine together. I have decided that to be able to do a satisfyingly large force I can't use GW models as my mainstay. I've chosen to base the armour on Brigade Models Neo-Soviet range http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/6mmSF/ They look wonderful and I've got the first few formations. As well as this I've got quite a few odds and sods from Troublemaker Games's kickstarter coming. Infantry will have to wait for a while and I'm considering either SEM militia or Baccus WW1 troops for the majority of the first component which will be elements of the Hrin regiments. Part of what I'm planning is to use a lot of Baccus historicals for more esoteric guard regiments. Those from Isandlwanda will be represented by Zulu's. Colonial British for the Highlanders and Mahdists for the Neubidian will create a huge variety of troops.

Got the first tanks assembled and heres some scale shots

They look too short compared to the 40k models. Simple solution

I'll be basing them then currently I think I'll be of to Warbases for a large order in a couple of weeks. Currently I'm wondering whether to use round bases or go square for the tanks and strip bases for the guardsmen. As well as that I've located Sentinel, Bike and Assault companies as well as a third sentinel troop and a Ratling platoon.

So your 40k Zulus will be making an appearance in epic?

Yes eventually can't resist especially as Baccus produces brilliant Zulu models, not sure when but doing a company or two is hard to resist. Basically I want to do something similar to the typical 2nd Ed guard army in Epic scale. You know the one a squad of Tallarns, a squad of Valhallans and a bunch of Cadians and Catachans all mixed as a hodge podge.
I take it your alright with me using these as Leman Russes & Destroyer Tank Hunters? I just wouldn't get the en masse armour I want using proper GW. Even when they sold them. You can get a company of 12 Bizons and a Command APC for £11.75. GW wanted £30.75 for 10 Leman Russes and frankly the Bizon looks cooler anyway.

No problem for me. I suspect whenever I get round to doing my squats, I will be using lots of non GW stuff.

Cool Brigade would be worth a look although I think Dystopian Wars will probably have you covered

Thanks a lot esadous.
Heres some more of the Brigade Vehicle for scale. From Left to Right Land Raider, Volk Assault Gun, Battle Wagon, Laska Tankette, Leman Russ, Rosomakha Light Tank, Rhino

I've converted the Rosomakha slightly to have a Hellhound as I have no real need for a Light Tank. The Laska Tankette's will be used for Sentinels.

As well as that I've got the first squadron of Sentinels painted. B troop 511th Hrin Artillery

These show the electric blue Aquila army group markings (i.e. the triangle) and the German Grey and Shadow Grey scheme I've chosen for the army.

The last two types of my Christmas present of Brigade vehicles have been assembled. Looking forward to cracking on with the painting of these critters.

I've also got D Platoon 21st Company 232nd Hrin Infantry painted up. You can see the two tone grey camo as well as the bright blue I've used to pick out the Section HQ. This'll be continued throughout the entire army group to give them a unifying element.

oh cool. will be good to see more brigade models in these boards. I choose neo Soviets for my very first 6mm sci fi army a few years ago.

This will be great to follow.

Sorry Llama no pics available. Great models, and useful for scratch building. The Mammonts are excellent models.

Hmm is the size right for a Baneblade? I was planning to go Exodus Wars for those if I'm honest.

The Mammonts are too small for a baneblade in my opinion. Exodus are perfect.
