Hi all, Kinda new to the site, been lurking a bit the last 2-3 months :whistle

I have never played the game, but there is a very active group in Copenhagen (Denmark) where I live, so I thought why not start on this game, it looks fun ;D

I am starting or have started painting Tau, I got quite a few minis gathered up, I will try not to do any proxies, and what I miss I will try to create my self (mostly Hammerhead and Devilfish stuff) LONG LIVE INSTANTMOLD ;D.

So far I have painted up 2 test minis, one Firewarrior base and a Devilfish, in the clasic Orange like Tau theme, I will try to post pictures of them tomorrow.

What I have so far is:
1x Ethereal
1x Commander i Crisis Suit
13 baser Gun Drones
21 baser Fire Warriors
3 baser Pathfinders
3 baser XV15 Stealth Armour
9 baser XV8 Crisis Suits
6x XV88 Broadside
10x Devilfish APC (6 made from Sky Ray Missile Defence Gunships)
3x Hammerhead Gunship med railgun
2x Hammerhead Gunship med ion-cannon
17x Sky Ray Missile Defence Gunship (Most of those will become Devilfish and Hammerheads, alrady made 6 into Devlifish)
11 baser Kroot
3 baser Krootox
3 baser Kroot Hounds
1x Orca Dropship
2x Tiger Sharks
2x Tiger Shark AX-1-0
2x Barracudas
3x Mantas (FW send me 2 new as the first 2 was misscasts I repaired them a bit I hope they will look ok)
15x Tetras
10x Piranhas

Most of the Flyers+Mantas are getting primed today and tomorrow, and on Monday (I hope) I got a friend that will airbush the first color on them.

Though I might as well throw a few pictures of the finished minis before I go to bed:

Pictures are not great, but then again I am not that great a painter ;D but I am satisfied with the result.

Nice stuff, Philip!

You should post your homemade turrets...

And is there anywhere in the Tau fluff any pictures of architecture or structures? I'm too old to have led a Tau codex in hand, so I'm keen to see official pictures. These loads of good reference on the web though.

Yea... I think its against TacCom's policy for me to post the Turrets here in the state they are in ;)

You can see the automated turrets FW created once upon a time here but else I think this guy hit close to the mark.

Thank you its actually one of the Skyrays that I have converted by casting copys of an original Devilfish top hatch and twinlinked drone pulsrifles in Instandmold and then cast them in Miliput and Green Stuff.

Ofcause on the first one I forgot to add the Burstcannon on the front, but it will be added on the rest.

The twinlinked drone pulsrifles are not hard to copy as they can be found on the Tau Piranhas from the Recon Pack still available from FW, problem is more with the top hatch as you need an existing turret to copy from.

To answer your question:

Instant Mold is very easy to work with, put how ever much you need to use in very hot (I use just boiled water from a electric water boiler) water for 1-2 minutes, take the Instant Mold up (its a bit hot, but you will not get burned from the Instant Mold, ofcause the water is hot, so I use tweezers) press it against the subject you want to copy, and let it cool down (takes a few minutes), if you fold it it will stick to it self and you will need to cut the Instant Mold open.

Mix Green Stuff and Miliput (I use the standard one) 50/50 and press it down into the form you just made, let it harden for some hours, I usually just let it sit through the night, and you are done.

Just trim the copy you created and glue it on to whatever you want.

Mind that in Denmark this is not illegal, you are alowed to make copies for own use, but legislation might be diffrent where you live, so look out for that.

Thank you, what I got is about 50/50 Forge World and old no longer available Forumware.

The once in the picture is 1 from FW and 4 Forumware, this was because the Forge World minis are very fragile and if I needed to strip them of paint it would most likely break 25% of the minis.

Soo... I painted some more, next up is Kroot Hounds, then some Devilfish APC's.

Fire Warriors 1

Fire Warriors 2

Unfortunately the Manta Burst Cannons break just you look at them... so have to do something about it, a minor setback.

I just got some more mini's:
3 Hammerheads with Ion Cannon
9 baser XV15 Stealth Suits (3 on each base)
And my latest order from FW with 15 Skyrays and 3 Recon Packs.

So my list of what I have is now:

1x Ethereal
1x Commander i Crisis Suit
13 baser Gun Drones
21 baser Fire Warriors
3 baser Pathfinders
12 baser XV15 Stealth Armour
9 baser XV8 Crisis Suits
6x XV88 Broadside
10x Devilfish APC
3x Hammerhead Gunship with railgun
5x Hammerhead Gunship with ion-cannon
10x Tetras
15x Piranhas
17x Sky Ray Missile Defence Gunship <-- 10-12 will be made into Hammerheads, just need to finish my turret design
11 baser Kroot
3 baser Krootox
3 baser Kroot Hounds
?x Shield Drones (still don't know how many I have)
3x Manta
1x Orca Dropship
2x Tiger Shark
2x BARRACUDAS
2x Tiger Shark AX-1-0

They can't be used in Epic but I just had to have them:
1x Tigershark AX-2-2
2x Remora Drone Stealth Fighters

Hope you like the pictures :)
