Hey folks Been working on and off on my Chaos army for a while now and decided I should at last pull my finger out and finish them for this years ToEG after failing to get my Tau completed last year and being a single pylon short on my Necrons the year before I have high hopes for actually finishing this project. I think it best to open with marines from Huron Blackheart's Red Corsairs, though the army will be a hodge-podge of Corsairs and Legionaires. You'll have to forgive the lighting here, I'll endeavour to improve it in my next update. ![]() ![]() http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18 ... 6c9268.jpg ![]() http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18 ... 53b30a.jpg ![]() I've also done a support formation of Iron Warriors Havocs, these Rhinos don't have spikes yet, will have to see how many I have left, I kind of like the idea that Iron Warriors might not bother with them though. ![]() http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18 ... db9358.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18 ... 2a7c4b.jpg ... and finally we have a sneak peek of a project I'm working on, I'm no-where near ready to show off the body work on this model so my loyalist will act as a stand in for now. ![]() ![]() http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18 ... 429027.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18 ... ec359f.jpg Please don't hesitate to provide criticism, it's why I post here. Disclaimer: Some of the models shown are from my backlog of OOP custom models, I glad I can share these photos of them with you but they aren't for sale. |

Nice stuff CS, those small spikes are really effective. I like the colour scheme it's very similar to my sanctified warband. |

Thanks guys! The 00 Gauge spear fencing was a really nice find by llamahead, still to see how it handles being transported though. The Reds could do with a highlight, I was hoping the wash would be enough but you're right. For red highlights, is it best to mix with orange? |

Generally. Going with a more 'white' color ends up giving a pinkish cast, which I doubt is what you're looking for. |

Nice stuff! Big thing is going to be interesting! There is a bit of sheen in the minis, but that may be the camera and/or on purpose. |

Thanks guys, the sheen is caused by the Agrax Earthshade wash, they'll end up shiny anyway as the varnish I use is a gloss finish. I'm running out of devlan mud and need to save it for a couple of large models. I've done another highlight, let me know what you think. ![]() ![]() ![]() I also have these Iron Warriors I finished a while back, they're part of this army so thought I'd put them up here for completions sake. ![]() Hope you like them. |

Looking good ![]() I used a similar red on my Warhammer Orc and Goblin army. You could maybe just highlight with bright red, that might be enough on its own (this was what I used here though I used mostly the bright red for a lighter effect than I'd suggest you use). Mostly I highlight up to bright red then further up to orange. It's best to mix your own orange out of the red plus both yellow and a bit of white and to apply the orange highlighting thinly/sparingly on the very edges so as not to overdo it (see here for an example on my Forge Knight - http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/8374/knightbig.jpg). Where did you buy the spear fencing from? I'd like some myself. |

Thanks guys, I promise I'll do an army shot with my next update, which should be next week unless it's bright when I get in from work this week. Do those reds need another highlight Glyn?(Anyone) I got my spear fencing from a company called Guagemaster, it was the first shop I found with it in stock so bit the bullet on their small orders charge rather than shop around. I'm sure there'll be other, maybe cheaper, alternatives. Link. So I've run some numbers on what I've posted so far, I'm getting close to 2k points already, must be some expensive units in there! Got another 1.2k painted and waiting on the sidelines for a distinct partner formations from the same legion as I think it'll look nicer with them posted together: Night Lords Bikes/Raptors, Alpha Legion retinue/defilers & a pair of Feral Warhounds. Not got a solid 3k structure to work to yet, just a big pile of chaos minis to get painted. I've also only just noticed Red Corsairs don't actually use Decimators at all too. It's just as well I'm making sure I can field it as a Black Legion list too. |
