Hello all! I'm totally new to Epic and this forum, so greetings to all and I hope I do not violate any rules by jumping in at this late stage of TOEG 2012. I have been aware of Epic since Epic 40k came out, but never got around to try it. This September a buddy of mine and I decided to finally give it a try. Since we can only get together VERY infrequently, I have until the weekend before Christmas to paint up approximately 2000 points of Imperial Guard. I have been busy since our last gaming weekend, and after much searching for 6mm miniatures on the web, I finally got to painting. I'm trying to finish a decent selection of Steel Legion formations until the deadline in December, and this blog will hopefully help to motivate myself. I will first post what I have painted since starting in early October. ![]() I first ordered just over 0.7 kilogramms of metal miniatures from Dark Realm Miniatures... Then I realised I didn't know what the paint scheme was going to be. I think that while most camo paint schemes look cool up close, they tend to do what they are supposed to do when viewed from a distance: They hide details and blend the vehicle into a lump of green/brown - at least when someone with my limited abilities is the painter. So I went for this instead: (Copyright Relic or whoever made Homeworld 2, I guess) ![]() I did a couple of test models to try out a few ways of painting blue and the orange markings... ![]() And finally wound up with a couple of tanks I am fairly happy with: The miniatures are DRM Chasseur tanks, the decals are from my wargaming shop and apparently depict the insignia of the 1st Polish Armoured Division. I didn't know that at the time though, I picked them for the funny winged boar - turns out it is a winged helmet... Next up were two Hydras to give my infantry a little AA support: ![]() Again DRM miniatures. They are called Firewall, IIRC. A big thank you to Onyx, by the way, his blog was a great inspiration for me both in terms of motivation and choice of miniatures. I'll post the rest of the pictures over the next few days, right now I have to finish the air cav and navy that has been sitting on my desk for days now, all grey and blue and no orange at all... I can't really say why some people can't see the pictures... They are in a Dropbox directory, and I have to say I'm not really experienced with Dropbox. I have fiddled a bit with the preferences, but I'm not sure it helped. I myself can see the pictures, even when I'm not logged into Dropbox... Can someone give me some tips for this? I am apparently getting too old to keep up with all that newfangled hosting-files-online business. |

![]() Alright, I couldn't see the pictures myself this time, so I rehosted them somewhere else... Should be displayed ok now. I can't do anything about the picture size, though. Is there a way to change their displayed size? Anyway, on to the next batch: First up is a Basilisk battery... ...and their buddies, driving around a couple of Manticors All of them DRM minis again. Thanks for your feedback and welcomes, by the way! |
