I'm going to be revamping my Guard during this ToEG. I had originally done some vanilla Steel Legion, and while I did kind of like how some elements of my army were coming along (my Valkyries and Vultures) I wasn't pleased with other elements of the army (the troops.) In addition, I didn't properly prime some of the vehicles, so I was losing paint on corners and outboard weapons on my tanks. On top of that, when I had started the army, I hadn't envisioned much more than a Steel Legion force. As time progressed though, I realized that I wanted an army that could stand in for any of the variant IG forces, should I decide to change my list. As a result, I've started stripping my vehicles and have based up a sizable horde of IG infantry: I haven't based up the command stands yet, as I haven't decided if I want to do 5 to a stand or 4 to make it a little easier to paint. I've got the metal characters, so they're a little more dynamic than the plastics. I figure with the troops I have right now, I can do three Kreig companies, or five Steel Legion, or six Siegemaster (maybe seven if I use the remaining Guard I have.) Next step: Priming. |

I know it's costly, but it's such a brilliant tool I can't imagine not having one. A light coat of black then white took me some 20-30 minutes for 25 bases and all done indoors in safety from the rain ![]() This week I'll try painting terrain and am excited to see what results I can come up with. |

Airbrushes are a gift to anyone with a ton of stuff to undercoat. Zoop-zoop-zoop and you're done, no bursh strokes, super coverage, super fast. Also good for camo, etc. |

Tragedy. I had put a whole slew of stuff into a jar of purple power, and left it to sit for a couple of weeks. The first thing that happened when I removed the lid was that I dropped the jar into the sink, spilling most of the liquid out, down the drain. I was annoyed, though it is biodegradable, I don't like pouring it down the sink with the paint sludge. Not a huge deal though, in the long run. Or so I thought. I dumped the contents of the jar into my strainer (thank the Emperor I did) and found the following: Not only was the paint gone (the photo is after a bit of scrubbing,) but all of the superglue bonds broke down as well. The problem is, I don't remember exactly what I put in the jar! This is going to be like assembling a puzzle where you only have a vague idea of what the subject is... I think there are Hellhounds, Chimeras, Leman Russ, Demolishers, etc. And to add insult to injury, I don't know if I still have all of the tiny cupolas that went on the turrets - I found some in the sink after scrubbing the models, so I might have lost a couple down the drain. *Sigh* |

Looks like mostly russes and 3 Chimera based hulls. I've got plenty of the hatches if you're missing some. |
