Hi,

I am late with this, but better late than never, eh :)

I have prepped my tyranids during spring and mid summer and I have pretty large pile waiting basing before I get to undercoating. Painting first 500pts wont be a problem, I just need to get them based. For TOEG 500pts a month is enough, but I try to beat it. Well see how it ends.

Infantry is in low numbers atm, but I will build more.

Prepped nids waiting basing...

Mmm that's a nice lot of Nid metals. Looking forward to seeing more :)

Good luck! Do you have a colour scheme for them yet?

I will go with brownish colours. Something like bestial brown-scorched brown-kommando khaki-possibly tiny amount of gray.

I saw once pretty cool looking epic tyranids army in google pic search, but couldnt find it anymore. Checked first 30 pages. Back then when I found it, I saved pics and printed 'em so I have reference anyway.

That is a large supply of metal nids indeed.

I thought I'd do a shameless reference to my own nids, since I went for bestial brown -> khaki myself, with added carapace colours.

Best of luck to you,

@Fredmans
Your tyranids are very nice and look a bit same that I have thought, but those arent the ones I am referring to.

Now you evil gits! You did a good work on hiding my thread ;D I almost gave up hope on finding it again.

Month have passed and I have been busy on several fronts. Anyhow I managed to get something painted.

Something as 1050pts of tyranids.
5 units of Biovores, á 150pts = 750pts
3 Harridans, á 100pts = 300pts

Here we go with pics.

Look great, really like the 'natural' colour scheme.

These look really nice!

I've personally always liked either this sort of green/bone/brown scheme (like yours, WMN's, Helge's and fredmans' for example) or the predominantly purple schemes (like person's or Carl Woodrow's). The more 'Nid armies I see in each of these schemes, the more I'm convinced I'd like to do mine in one - but I can never decide which! :P

Anyway, you've done a great job here, and my only suggestion would be to gently drill out the guns of the older-style Biovores or at least paint a little black circle there to indicate the gun muzzle's opening. I think it will help blend in the older models with the newer ones a bit more too.

Looking forward to seeing more of your forces. :)

Thanks!

I am glad you like 'em, because I wasn't exactly sure on my own feelings. Based on pile of similar models I felt that I could do better, but I ensured myself that different models will bring more depth to these.

I havent varnished those yet, so I will paint muzzle openings on biovores. Not black, too high contrast, more like brown or greenish-brown.

LoL!

I cant even count. 1275 =! 1050
5x 4 biovores = 5x 150pts = 750pts
3x harridan = 3x 175pts = 525pts
Total 1275pts

Great job! I especially like the shadows on the Harridan bases. I can just imagine a poor IG fire team scouting the wilderness when *swoosh* a dark shape blots out the sun...
