TOEG outline:
Each participant commits to paint 500 points (in EA, or a comparable amount of E:40k/NetEpic) or more of epic a month and show their progress in a project log in the Epic 6mm section. The purpose of TEOG is to encourage people to finish a playable army over a period of 5–6 months (or more).

Optional challenge (as suggest by Vanvlak): produce one army themed objective or terrain piece per month for your army as well.

Also I'd love to follow all of these, but I also fear that they're going to dominate the 6mm section a bit- any chance a sub-forum can be created?

Well, it is still August... So you could potentially still join in this one and either work very hard in the remaining two weeks to get the first 'block' of models done, or agree to paint the rest of this month on a pro-rata basis (so your 'block' of models for this month would be half-sized)?

Declare yourself a participant, and what army you'll be building here. Apocolocyntosis will add you the list and link to your topic when you make one. (I suggest labelling your topic title with something like "TOEG: mattausten86's Armyblah").

What are they, and what's wrong with them? Some folks on here are accomplished photographers (not me though!) who might be able to help you.

Correct - and even telling us what you're up to will do. If you take a look at my pics you'll see I'm terrible at the pic part, and might as well just restrict to reporting sans pics :)

I was using a powershot A470 and my blackberry phone, but they just looked like blurs, but if its ok i would happily write how its going, saying that im just putting the finishing touches to a 400 formation.

Looks like the A470 has super macro focus up to 1cm, as well as standard macro mode , so it should be fine, are you sure you were in macro/super macro mode? Have you tried using a tripod or supporting the camera somehow to reduce blur from moving hands?
