So i FINALLY got in my bases from Litko, with a little help from Ken pushing my order through. Tad expensive for my taste, but I spent alot of time finding the exact measurments, so Im happy with the results. These are 1.5mm plastic.

And because I'm insane I decided to drill holes in my 40x12mm troops bases. As I'll be using more rare/older models Im going to base 4 instead of 5 and make the numbers I have go a little farther.

Image

Took a while to get the process down, but I tape both sides to hold them together should they start to crack. Then I drill a small hole and move up to the bigger size after. The tricky part is drilling only right before it breaks...haha. I stop and finish off each hole with a manual drill in order to prevent the casualties ive seen. Since these are custom bases I cannot afford much error. Finally I magnetize the bottoms.

Cheers.

More mad things to come...

The Iron Warriors Ordinatus Medrengard, destroyer of worlds, breaker of faith.

Before, with a little custom work here and there.

And here she is.

I'm still not 100% sold on the color combo of the crackle base...what do you guys think???

I feel it needs some brush/flock type additions, or maybe go back to a more desert tan type scheme with the same effect??

Love the Ordinatus!
On the bases, I think tan or similar colour would help diferentiate the model from the base.

I used GW Graveyard Earth/Steel Legion Drab, drybrushed with GW Bleached Bone and then washed with Woodland Scenics Raw Umber.

Great looking mini. I think the crackle base would look good painted as volcanic laver.

I wasn't totally sold on that kitbash when I first saw it but once your fantastic painting was applied it looks so awesome! I do agree that a sandy tan/earthy base would better suit the IW.
