thanks guys, ya basing seems to be the hardest part for this project, im so used to doing the glue and dip sand method that this new crackle thing is throwing me off. But XM talked me into most likely keeping what i just did, considering its different and I havent seen it done too much.

Its basically a super dark brown added after a black base coat, the agrellan earth is added to do the crackle. Takes some practice to get right. The dark under shows through when it dries. Then drybrush a lighter shade ontop. I might try using a devlan mud wash...not sure.

i THINK baneblade earth is the same color without the effect...which i do need because i might need to touch up something at some point....

cheers

The day has come that my dozer blades are up for order on Shapeways for those interested. They fit my project in a great way and are obvious to anyone on here as to their intended purpose. Little steep on the price portion using shapeways, but for me it was worth doing. Let me know what you think!

Cheers!

so, I was cutting some metal flash off some dudes last night, and a piece shot straight up into my eye...lodging under my lower lid for a min or so till i could get it out. Curious if this ever happened to anyone before?

Hoping ill be ok, just been using eye drops every hour or so....as it feels itchy/odd. 20 years of hobbying never had that happen...

That is exactly why I do my modeling in an ADS, in a bunker, underground, via remote control manipulators.

thanks for confirming my neurosis

So things are still full steam ahead (besides shooting metal into my eye and losing a week). Havent had time to take pics and trasnfer to my computer, but here's some reinforcements incoming!

Alot more to do, but the dozer blades def get the IW theme going! Painting updates soon

My ordinatus dies first turn everygame, no matter the opponent. Too expensive to protect at that point, have to shelf it outside of larger games =\ boo

Warlords are a pretty big point sink, too :) Not as squishy as the ordinatus, though.

Will be using it as a ravager and not the seigelord. Too many points for a slower titan with little increase in damage output. Even with the transport Id rather have the Imperial version.

After a long hard process of failure, I've decided to ditch the crackle with agrellan earth, and do a more standard desert scheme with glue/sand

pics soon

Vallejo sandy paste is worth a look if you don't want to use sand - it'll give you something between crackle and talus/sand. JimmyZimms and IJWTrader use it on their stuff if you want to see it in action...
