One thing you should think about is sidewalks and how they will affect your planning. I still think that the "L" shape will be your most basic module. I would try making a grid of your modules and then see which one produces the effect you want. With the square style, your roads will be half-widths,...

I don't think that technique is intended to be used after painting! I think taking abrasives (even cotton buds) to your thin coats of paint will leave you with primer or bare metal left behind... I think that you should build most of them using the first layout. That will give you the standard North American block layout.

These are very nice. I'm impressed with the passion and patience it takes to make all those fiddly little markings on minute marines. I think you missed a toe on the dread's left shoulder though.  :;):  :laugh:

Very slowly? The "blue" and "red" infantry I primed white and carefully painted the base colors on. Polly-S Khaki uniforms, chaos black weapons and visors and bronzed flesh chins.
