Vultures are potent but are also very vulnerable - especially as IG will rarely win the initiative.
As for 2 squadrons being able to kill double their points in the first turn - after that first shot they are limited - anyway a lot of units could say the same thing |

I'm sure that maths does not work - by that logic 2 rolls at 4+ have a 100% chance to hit

I just got an email from the GW events team confirming the Armylists for Call to Arms - Orks, SM, IG, Eldar, Siege, Feral Orks, Black Legion, Tyranids + White Scars SM and Speed Freeks Apparently Andy will be posting on the SG forum about it and confirming the versions of each list - so hopefu... |

I don't see where you get these figures from two shots at AA5+ or at AA5+ is not 66% chance to hit. The Hunters 1 at AA4+ is pretty comparable to the Hydras two at AA5+ as are their AT stats. The only area the Hydra has a distinct advantage is in AP. The key advantage the Hunter has is its far super... |

In my opinion - YES marines should be forced to use drop pods and air assaults to win - because thats what they are - a surgical strike force. Land Speeders/warhounds scout out the enemy(or inEA place BM/suppress flak) and then its Thunderhawks, Landing craft, drop pods raining in. |

I don't see why the pretense of support won't continue - look at the support now we have one guy(Andy) presumably doing another job as well, or at least I hope so given his spectacular level of incompetence+inactivity, very little in the way of releases and no advertising - basically just a website.... |

From what we were told it was a permanent fixture and then when it was announced it was closing it became a trial pilot scheme |

Why are a lot of codex marine units altered? I can see the basis of long fang/dev changes etc. but why - the attack bike formation? - surely could just opt to change bikes to attack bikes as in vanilla sm 8 units seems a bit excessive for bikes, assaults and blood claws why so beefed up? why 6... |

I don't think many marine players would often take Predators - especially in a 3k tournament list - possibly you would if you were tailoring your list to fight 'nids but a standard 'all-purpose' marine list would very rarely feature predators, scouts or snipers |

I emailed Che (GW events team) this morinig about the issues with ther armylists for Call to Arms. He responded straight away and was very concerned - basically he doesn't follow epic closely and had just asked Andy Hall for a list of armies. He asked me to send him an 'ideal' list of what armies sh... |

Well it was an email reply I recieved directly from Andy Hall or at least andyha@games-workshop.co.uk
Not that suprised but still disappointed by the chaos non-release, but the L&D+nid stuff beggars belief.

I can't see what the problem is in discussing varying opinions and viewpoints which seems to be what is happening in this thread. Especially compared to other threads which have degenerated into flaming and the production of 'pseudo bat reps' which contain armylists, brief game rundown and the... |

I just wanted to say thanks to all the players who attended for a really enjoyable day, and well done to Dave Thomas AKA dptdexys for winning his 3rd Open War. Open War V was the first epic tournament I have attended and I must say I hugely enjoyed it. I would urge anybody considering coming to one ... |
