As with seman's original list, I love the idea. That was also my first thought upon seeing that page of the new Eldar 'dex. Of some concern is the Autarch - why limit him to Aspect troupes? Going to the background, we see that the traditional Aspects are merely the most common ones, and ... |

I do think that GW's doing a really lackluster job of trying to interest people in many of its SG product lines. The back few pages of the main games' rulebooks and a few pages in the codices/army books could attract a great deal of interest. For example, the main rule books would advert... |

Hmm? Oh, I'm not arguing with you; I'm in full agreement that Jetbikes ought to be skimmers. I was partially just disagreeing with your claim that a Carnifex could wreck a skimmer in CC and partially trying to justify the CC-avoidance ability of skimmers in Epic - they just can't be caug... |

I don't know that I agree with that, Markconz. Skimmers in 40k are just as hard for melee critters to deal with, and Eldar skimmers are particularly vulnerable. In 40k, a fully pimped out CC Carnifex can charge a Falcon and only average .139 kills. It needs 7.2 turns to statistical... |

Speaking as an Eldar player, I think the Ionheads do need that AA. I've seen Skyrays taken with Broadside formations and AMHCs, and I've never had much trouble prepping them with a Void Spinner or Fire Prism barrage, suppressing the Skyray (with some fancy maneuvering on the part of my aircraf... |

No argument here, but that's not what you were saying earlier. From your earlier post: QUOTEa Firestorm is better than 2xAA4+, almost equal to 3x AA4+. Not "a Firestorm is better than 2x AA5+, almost equal to 3x AA5+". Later, you also claimed that its AP and AT Pulsars were close to 3x A... |

Your analysis of the Firestorm is way off. Pulse on a 4+ or worse gun is not as good as a simple 2x gun. You can figure out how many hits a Pulse weapon will score on average by adding the average number of hits resulting from each die roll. For Pulse 4+, the first roll averages .5... |

Just to throw an almost certainly unbalanced thought out there - It seems to me that the most popular shooty units (excepting Revenants) in the Eldar list are things like Scorpions, Void Spinners, and Fire Prisms, when things like Falcons and Vypers don't see nearly as much use. The ones that ... |

I'm a bit confused as to how they can possibly differentiate everything sufficiently. Aren't Imperial and Chaos aircraft going to be almost exactly the same? Aren't the Tau supposed to be pretty much exactly on par with them, with slightly better craft making up for less experienced pilo... |

Well, the stats I churned out were just for generic DC8 and DC6 things - the same basic numbers will work for most Tyranid things, and are the before-save numbers for Tau and Eldar things. Units of DC3 war engines are going to be close to the numbers for DC6 and DC8 engines, depending on wheth... |

I think you're overstating what Cobras can do. Yes, their maximum roll is nasty, but it's not like 5 Falcons can't put out 15 AT hits on a good day. First, this is probably just semantics, but it's not true that 'the larger a titan is, the easier it is to fell'. In fact, Cobras hav... |

I'm not following your reasoning on the D-Cannon being great against non-Titans. Three Scorpions average just over 3 kills against Russes, while 6 D-Cannon hits do the same. However, the difference in range between a move & shoot D-Cannon and a Scorpion Pulsar is enormous - 55 vs 85. &nb... |

Honestly, I've never gotten much use out of them. You're right that they're very good against Titans, and it's true that they're even better against bigger Titans, but they're also worse than most TK weapons against non-Titans. They're an incredibly specialized platform - I'd much rather... |

Quote Especially given the way SG seems to be going at the moment, it's highly unlikely that the Marine and Eldar lists will officially change much, if at all, in the forseable future. Our job is to balance new lists against what's already there, not second guess something that's not even like... |

The Manta is renowned for dropping from orbit, delivering its cargo of Tau, unloading all kinds of firepower on the enemy, and doing all of this before the enemy has time to react? It may be renowned for carrying Hunter Cadres and delivering them right to any point on the battlefield, but that... |
