I am using various miniatures from MechWarrior (collectable) for transports and warmachines. Have a look at my blog to see which miniatures I'm using.

I started looking for alternatives when buying Chimera's for the Imperial Guard became too expensive :)

Those Phoenix bombers are awesome. Great conversion. Well done, good idea. It's great to see other people's inventiveness here. You are right, because Epic is now only available by eBay, we'll see a lot more conversions. Mine can been seen in my blog. Currently working on Necrons.

The SW miniatures from the OP are great and I cannot match them. But I did collect a LOT of Star Wars Pocketmodels and they are great to play huge Epic 40,000 in the SW universe.
