In 2nd Ed 40k I had a Commissar that rolled hatred on the Tyranid attack table (or whatever it was called) every single game (at least 10 games..). In one of my first games of 3rd ed 40k I was playing another Tyranid player who had a skirmish line of spore mines spread out in front of and intermingl...

I have been looking for some variant flakwagons for ages and I see that some AA 'turrets' have appeared on the Vanguard site. As they are listed as an upgrade to the plastic trucks does this mean that the plastics are near to getting released? http://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/plastic-vehicle-met...

I am currently painting up various Orky vehicles although I don't have a real list in mind. I am thinking of something along the lines of this for 4K : Kult of Speed Kult of Speed Big Fortress mob +7 Boys and 1 Nob 'Uge Blitzbrigade (mix of Flak and Gun wagons) 'Uge Blitzbrigade (mix of Flak and Gun...

Or just buy paint from Coat D' Arms. Its the same paint in the old pots for less money, its a win win. I have citadel colour paint pots that must be about 18 years old and they are still useable.

If it wasn't for their foundation range and their new washes I wouldn't buy any GW paints at all.

I never have the points left to try the typhoon, is it really worth that 25pts. It absolutely is worth the points. The high to-hit values for the Typhoon's weapons mean that double moving does not hinder their firepower as much as the other weapon loads. A full formation of 5 Typhoons will lay down...

What's the draw for Warhammer Quest? Is it a simplified version of WFRP? I've seen some outstanding player created scenery for the game, but never so much as picked up a box to look at it. Basically yes. The actual dungeon crawl is randomly generated (from cards if you are playing straight out of t...

It is highly unlikely to be Gorkamorka or any of their skirmish games, GW simply doesn't want that sort of game anymore. I would love to be proved wrong though. Bloodbowl is a strong possibility as is warhammer quest as these games are largely self contained. There is also the possibility that they ...

I have managed to convert up some razorbacks (those old robots are good for something after all :)) so I have replaced both vindicators with 4 lascannon razorbacks and moved the hunter from my supreme commanders formation to my predators. The other change that I have made is to swap 1 'speeder forma...

I just noticed that the vindicators only have a 20cm move so they are probably gone. I may see about converting some razorbacks as my ebay purchase includes loads of the old 1st edition landraiders (20+) and rhinos (50+) so I have a lot of spares, some extra AT would probably be quite handy as well....

Proxy them as heavily armored (and brightly colored) Guardsmen. I'm quite picky about the models that I use, thats why I am on plan B in the first place :) Thanks for the offer of the steel legion but I would prefer to use my own (especially if I actually own a workable army). I will have to see ab...

I managed to win most of a marine chapter for £30 on ebay and as it has been proving difficult to pick up the guardsmen that I want so I have moved onto plan B for the time being. Assault detachment, Chaplin = 225 Devastator detachment = 250 Thunderhawk (transports the above) = 200 Tactical detachme...

No, I would also need 2 blisters of Valkyries. I would imagine that storm troopers would need their mobility to be useful.

I'm not that big a fan of Darkrealm to be honest. Their vehicles may see some use though.

I would use storm troopers but they don't seem to turn up on ebay a lot and I'm not paying £36 for them. Would Warhounds work best solo or in pairs? As the ogryns are basically there to kill 50 points I could just as easily fit in 2 solo Warhounds. Artillery is something that I will probably use in ...

So 4 infantry Coys would be a bad idea then? I thought that 9 activations was pretty good for a guard army :) How about if I remove the Leman russ company (they are proving elusive on ebay anyway) and add 2 warhounds (presumably these would cont as 1 formation?), a thunderbolt flight and attach some...

I'm in Catterick, who is Yorkie? :)

Are you involved in the Harrogate wargames club? I keep meaning to go down there at some point but I would need a reason to go.
