Quote: (Dobbsy @ Dec. 13 2009, 02:52 ) I do have to ask, how do you know the ratio is 1 to 25, if lurkers don't post? Not being confrontational here, just genuinely interested how this can be determined. I know my most recent post was not directed at you. However; I was not clear, and the inten...

Quote: (Dobbsy @ Dec. 11 2009, 14:02 ) Seriously, Honda, we all want this to be brought to a conclusion, but standing your ground on things that no one else, so far, has come out and backed, seems pointless if you're the only one asking for it. The "empirical data" you ask for has already been ...

My point with infantry weapons at 15 cms is that is FF range. So to make use of the FW ranged combat to the full extent you must move into FF range. AHHH I thought Tau were supposed to remain at a distance and destroy with firepower not trust to the inability of the enemy to discern that FF is much ...

Comments on the list, I see the piranha upgrade 3 for 125. I does not mention the possibility of tetra upgrades or a mix. Tetras as a vulnerable but fast designator unit add on would be a plus and fall into the "integrated action"  theme we are trying to portray. As stated before I believe the ...

Honda and I played a 3000 pt evaluation battle Tau 6.1 list vs. Kreig list. Kreig is characterized by large(read huge) infantry units  and lots of heavy artillery in large units. I fielded a Tau army consisting of; Fire warrior unit 6 FW + 3 DF +Skyray Fire warrior unit 6 FW + 3 DF + Skyray Cri...

The intention of the doctrine thread was not to test who's knowledge of military operations was better. It was an attempt to begin a discussion on the CONCEPTS of the Tau way of war. I use my experiences to frame a concept. I ask all others to put down specific unit stat lines and consider overall o...

Quote: (Evil and Chaos @ 07 Aug. 2009, 10:34 ) We've tried playing the ERC list without the Scorpionfish and Stingray over the years (effectively the same thing), and it doesn't 'feel' like a Tau army should, in our opinion. That's what my proposal is supposed to fix. Not to be too insistent, p...

Quote: (Lion in the Stars @ 03 Aug. 2009, 23:09 ) I see them like armored (gepanzerte) PanzerGrenadiers (the guys in halftracks).  They use their vehicles for mobility and to enhance their ability to bring the fight to the enemy, forcing the enemy to fight when he is disadvantaged.   My e...

I read these posts and realize there seems to be a "failure to communicate". Think a moment, if the BASIC testing of the army as a whole is designed to do just that test the components to determine the viability of 'plain vanilla' formations. We are then arguing over the future ramifications of our ...

I like this direction and (as it fits my personal vision of Tau operations)will pursue testing in this direction. So specifically, we are regarding the Tigershark as a heavy support platform(using modern US doctrine wording here). I'll even sight a real world parallel. The Army asked for a close sup...

OK, lets discuss operational concepts. My ideas for Tau are more along the line of armored cavalry operation. First, mobility is the one defining characteristic. Secondly the ability to bring force to bear decisive firepower at range. A complete integration of all arms in 'organic formations'. In &n...

Gentlemen, I have read many different 'discussions' and lots of opinions. I would point out that synergy is the ENTIRE aspect of epic that differentiates it from 40K. In fact the use of synergistic operations of units is taught in a very pointed manner by the system. I believe Honda is trying to est...

I believe that drones are the key to the "Tau Difference" on the table top. Intelligent use of EXPENDABLE mechanical troopers in FEBA as the eyes and ears of a highly mobile strike force is for my mind the doctrine for the Tau to follow. I sight no unit specifics, though I have played my drone forma...

I am not talking about 'fluff', but a look at what our individual visions for the operation of Tau armies. I ask that no specific game statistics be men...
