Look, we're getting away from the primary point here, which is, "Is it fair for a Reaver to get all the benefits of void shields, but none of the drawbacks?" A void shield gives you complete immunity from all attacks that are not -1 TSM or better. Individual Void Shields come back up 50% o...

Targeting the head from the front is fine, but targeting it from the side, well, you're most likely to stay within the 9 hit locations in that block of 3 by 3. And of those, you have 3 that are blanks, which result in misses if you land on them. that creates a base minimum of 33% chance of a miss 1...

Now, concerning armor saves. One thing to remember about void shields is that they block all shots without going down unless they have a -1 or greater save modifier. So any weapon targeted on a titan is going to be a -2 or better, and thus any save is going to go down by 2 as well, that 1+ carapace...

A simple change would be to say that the carapace is hit instead if the Reaver's carapace weapon has been blown off already. Pretty much what I said here. Footnote would read. Any hits directed against the Reaver that attack the uppermost weapon boxes (carapace hardpoint) may be targeted at the wea...

Before you spend a lot of time on a simulation, I would like to revisit your Reaver/Warlord comparison as I'm afraid I don't get it. As far as I can see, Carapace hits causing loss of void shields on Warlords are going to be rare and due to scattering shots aimed at the rear reactor rather than a r...

While going through the original Adeptus Titanicus :Codex Titanicus (the one for 1st edition not the newer one), I ran back across something I'd forgotten about a long while ago. Rules and forumli for the creation of completely original titans, complete with point total calculations. This is somethi...

Well, given that some of the monday knight minis are no longer available... and there are better ones out by new companies, why not revise the list?

The retributor is a tough one to find minis for, mostly because of it's mix of missiles and a turreted gun.

I apologize for the brevity of this post, I had typed up a huge chunk of text that went over each of your points and questions. Saddly I hit the X button in firefox b...

I agree that not being able to destroy the reactor is *slightly* unfluffy, but not so much that anyone cares, apart from Ifurita ;) . Actually there are reactor hits for the reaver, there simply is no hits that allow you to take down the VSG. However, if the numbers are crunched (just do the statis...

The Gammaran is a little less squatty than I'd like, indeed, however the reason I suggested it for the retributor and the hearthlord is pretty simple, look at the weapons load for those two tanks. The retributor has a main cannon and missile pods. As such it's VERY hard to find a tank that has both ...

Same size. I think I have one at home, I'll look, if I do I'll take a pic of it next to an actual cyclops and post it. I'd suggest the following since the game master's minis used in netepic 4 are sometimes hard to find. Squat units---------4.0 mini----------my suggested current mini Iron shield APC...

Well a poll is okay, but I was actually thinking about this a bit and I came to a conclusion, that you're right about crunching numbers on this. If these critical hits are a rule breaker then the best way to know is to crunch some serious numbers on the issue. Thus I'm thinking of writing a multi pa...

In all honesty I use the Dark Realm Pax Arcadia minis for Squat tanks. Why? Because they have buggies (which would seem to me to be a much smarter choice for squats than their traditional trikes, given they're from heavy gravity worlds) and if you look at units like the Mammoth, the Thunderstrike, t...

Maybe it didn't get caught (for about 13 years mind) because it had no appreciable impact on games and therefore is not broken. I hear you keep saying this, but where I offer evidence showing it is broken and that they originally intended the titan to have exactly the critical hits that I pointed o...

The question also has to do with tactics: Do you focus a lot of firepower on a titan in one or two turns in order to take it down, or do you take a few pot shots and spread your firepower throughout the playing field. Although atmittedly it's been a few years, but my usual tactic when I've decided ...
