Thanks! Strangely, my copy of the Gold Tyranid army book doesn't show this, but I looked back at the old NE5 version and it's there and the version on the NetEpic page now has it. Missed an update, it seems! |

We ran into a bit of confusion today in a game regarding Tyranid titans and their armor. Realized we had been playing it incorrectly and that the numbers on the template are the critical check, but could not find the actual armor save value anywhere on the data sheet or in the army book. Are we blin... |

Not sure the C3 vehicles are really needed as separate cards. The order swap ability is one that has previously been associated with special characters (Master of Ravenwing's 'Master Tactician' and similar) and the artillery control role is handled by the Forward Observer special card. May simply wa... |

This sure takes me back. I miss the gorgeous White Dwarf Epic content from that era. So inspiring. |

Mission-oriented aircraft orders don't really work for me as well as flight-profile ones. NOE flight is for landing/retrieving troops in an air cavalry role. It's hard to stop with interceptors, but ground-based fire is effective. AA is mixed - the limited opportunity to gain a lock-on makes it less... |

Bear in mind that 40k is balanced (to the extent that it even IS balanced) for a squad/platoon level game, where single armor units are really powerful.
Adapting unit capabilities directly from 40k to Epic will not work well. |

Well, if NE had proper zone of control rules the whole thing would be moot as units that close to you would be forced to enter CC or retreat, but it doesn't and probably can't. I've entertained the possibility of extending pinning out to say 5 cm radius, but I expect there would be significant balan... |

Back on topic, one house rule that we have experimented with is adopting the E:A victory conditions as "bonus VP" and reducing the number of objective markers slightly. Haven't had enough games in with this change yet to say for sure how it's working out, but it does seem to encourage fast... |

The Redeemer (and Crusader) are also armed with Frag Launchers which are meant to fire a load of frag grenades into the enemy when the occupants dismount to assault. To represent this I gave them the ability to disrupt some nearby enemy models in combat. The Frag Launchers seem fiddly and add book-... |

I have have not noticed any real impact of the change in games over the years. Primarch Curious - do you often play infantry-heavy games in dense BUAs? I am generally a stickler for limited sightlines for troops in buildings, and my primary opponent plays mostly Tyranids and likes city fights. I ha... |

Since I began this thread, nobody who prefers the rule entirely out has posted here, despite being asked specifically to do so. If the choice is going back to the overly restrictive and artificial "you must move in a straight line to your target if you want to enter CC" rule, then count m... |

Fair enough, but I think there is more than enough creativity in the community to house rule the new models as needed rather than branch the community (already tiny) into multiple versions. I have plenty of house-ruled units, but they're only appropriate for friendly games. If I want to play with so... |

I may be biased because like Irisado I am an old-school Eldar player with a lot of turretless models in my forces, but it seems to me that the lack of turrets and PD is well compensated for by all the Eldar vehicles being skimmers (thus difficult to pin and able to execute pop-ups). There is no need... |

Another approach that might obviate the whole issue is to simply allow units defending against a charge to fire on the unit that engages them regardless of fire arc, perhaps with a -1 dm for firing out-of-arc. Cases (with proposed rule) 1. Charged unit on FF, indirect charge: defender can Snap Fire ... |

Manuevering to CC does have the effect of making cavalry units effective at outflanking and charging, which seems desireable to me. Having to flank one turn and charge in the next probably means never getting the flank charge off. |
